Publisher's summary

The universe sings a song, and I can hear it when we kiss....

Dimitri's eyes are the ice blue of a glacier - the hottest edge of a flame. His gaze both chills and heats me. His cheekbones are sculpted from marble, lips red as a rose petal and turned up into a predatory smile. He walks like a dancer - movements liquid, precise, controlled, and strong. He’s been following me...sent to protect me.

I believed the first 10 years of my life were a hallucination - a delusion created by a traumatized mind. I grew up not trusting myself, so I put all my faith in my best friend, Megan. When she disappeared, I lost my anchor...and picked up a stalker.

After violence erupts in Crescent City, and the dead begin to rise, creatures I believed only inhabited the world of fantasy - vampires, witches, warlocks, shifters - all want something from me.

My whole life, I’ve feared my own nature...my truth. But I can feel it now, hovering in the near distance. Waiting for me to claim it.

It’s my time.

Hot, and Steamy Trip

Emily Reed incorporated all the creatures of the paranormal realm in this first story of an apocalyptic universe where Vampires, Warlocks, Zombies, Demons, and Witches collide in a small city in the south.
The story itself, though a bit convoluted in the beginning, show the makings of becoming interesting.
The main character, Darling, is that very human mixture of traumatized, yet unbeaten!
That she survived all the obstacles put before her, proved to be a testament to the creature she truly was! Her confusion about herself, and her past was what keeps this character strong, though because of her nature, she was quite a sexual being!
The sex scenes are quite steamy!
The men in her life, were too controlling, but could not contain her. I liked that!
The narrator, though not bad, made it a little difficult for me, a neophyte to audible books, to truly enjoy the story.
The excerpt of the second book shows some promise.

A really good story and narration

I wasn’t sure what to expect. I actually enjoyed this story. It was a little slow in the beginning but I get why it was. Once it started going, it was hard to stop. I wanted to know what was happening and who or what Darling truly is. I am really looking forward to the next story in this series. I need to know how everything is connected and who to trust. The narration was really good. I’ve never listened to this narrator and she now a another fan. The narrator brought to life each character and emotion with her voice.

Interesting premise.

The premise is very interesting but I found it a bit hard to like the main character.
The pacing is okay, and the breadcrumbs of information was slowly being handed out to keep me reading and interested.
I really liked the Dr towards the end and I wish I could have seen more of him. I feel like some answers were given to us but there’s still a lot of unanswered questions that I hope the next book will reveal. I really enjoyed the audiobook. The narrator, Maria H. Welles did a wonderful job portraying the main character. I wasn’t a fan of how she portrayed some of the males. But—that being said, the narrator did a wonderful job portraying all of the emotions that the main character was feeling and made her feel real.

Fast, fun, and just enough sizzle

This was a new type of story for me and at first, I was a little confused but it all cleared up fast and I found myself totally enjoying the story. The characters are unique with a little mystery, some quirk, and totally likable. The narration was really easy to listen to and brought the story to life. I am a totally visual person and when I read or listen the story becomes pictures in my head and this narrator was able to do this without effort throughout the story. With Emily Reed's words and Maria Hunter Welles' narration, I found myself totally wrapped up in this urban fantasy. Oh, yeah, there is plenty of sizzle but not over the top.
I really can't wait to see where Emily takes this story!
