Publisher's summary

Life and death have a way of tainting fairy tales in the ugliest way.

You know the sugary-sweet romances where the new girl moves to a small town, falls in love with the most popular guy in school, and they live happily ever after?

I wish my story were that simple.

Levi Hollingsworth is the most popular guy in school. He's stoic, mysterious, and aloof. A man among boys. He claims attention wherever he goes, whether he wants it or not. And he doesn't want it.

The broody grump wants nothing to do with anyone. Especially me—the new girl who's failing chemistry. And Levi is my new tutor.

Little does he know, my grades are the least of my problems. Being forced to move to Virginia has everything to do with dirty politics, sex scandals, and cold cases.

I already thought my life was complicated when I landed in the commonwealth and was forced to live with my horrid grandmother. But when the guy wants the girl, he'll do everything to make her his.

I just hope I don't take Levi down with me.

Great love story and exciting drama

Loved the story and the narrators. The way the prior books were woven in was spectacular. I love this series of stories and can’t wait for the next in this new spin off.

The story you didn't know you needed

Overall: 🌟🌟🌟🌟 /5
Spice Level: 🌶🌶/5
Recommend: Yes
Re-read/re-listen: Yes
Narrators: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Obviously, I read it when it came out and am now doing a second read.. well, listen, and it is just as good. If not better, the second time around.

Oh my gosh! All the feels for this book. I have been a part of Brynne Asher's Beauty Group on Facebook for a while, and as she was coming on the end of writing this book or as she finished. I remember her saying, "This is the book you didn't know you needed." she was spot. Freaking. On! This book was so good. So well written, Brynne is so talented, this book gives you the fun one liners, the side characters that you adore and hope ,as in crossing your fingers and cross your toes hoping, they get a story, It has the suspense, the slow burn love story that makes you melt on the spot.
Levi and Carissa are so sweet together. Levi is just like his dad! All the mushy gooey feels 🫠.
Carissa, ugh, this girl! She is a freaking bad ass as all of her female characters are!

Go read this book! So good .

Narrators:
Jeremy York is a brand new to me narrator, and he did not disappoint!! Well done! New favorite for me.
CJ Bloom is a freaking gem!!! I love her. This audio was amazing!

Loved it ❤️

Loved how the story was interwoven with the original series. I want to go back and re-read Asa and Keele’s story.

Like Father, Like Son!

Thank you, Brynne Asher, for adding to the Killers series. The characters and plot line are perfectly meshed with the original books. So glad that Levi (and Clarissa) have their own book! Their story deserved it.

Puppy Love with a Promise of More

I have read this series multiple times because I simply love the stories and the characters. All her stories are well written and very engaging. This story is a great start into the next generation...p!us we get to see how All the kids turn out along with introductions to new characters like Cade, Jack and Chicken man. Granny was a nice loving touch proving that love can conquer all.

Where was Levi when I was in high school?

Being a senior citizen, I normally am not interested in stories about high school age charachters. However, I love the series and based on reviews I purchased the book. He's a chip off his old man's block in terms of the way he takes charge of the relationship. Both Carissa and Levi have back stories not referred to in Gifts that helps to build the plot and explain the character's actions. The narrators don't sound impossibly young and did a good job. The characters level of maturity is extraordinary for 17 and 18 year olds. Levi has an unusual knowledge of the nuts and bolts of intimacy and women. Over all it was an easy read, and I would classify it as brain candy. I'm not sorry I bought it, but it's not my favorite of the series.
