Publisher's summary

When uptight British bookshop owner Emily Bartlett goes to Las Vegas to get over a humiliating breakup, she's expecting to make a few mistakes. But when she meets Ruby Knight, a pessimistic American C-list TV actress with designs on a movie career, she makes a whopper. The pair get so incredibly drunk together that they end up getting accidentally married.

In the cold light of day, both women are shocked to find themselves wedded to a virtual stranger. But maybe it's not such a big mistake? Could Ruby's marriage to Emily help boost her profile and get her the biggest role of her life, earning Emily a big payday in the process? Only if they can make it seem like they're really in love. And only if they can navigate the treacherous LA movie scene without tripping themselves up and giving the game away. Or worse, getting carried away with their fake relationship...

But what if they do let themselves feel something? Could they fall in love? Or are they just married?

Contains mature themes.

Hollywood marriage

If I was Ruby I would have told her mom off long ago. I give Emily a lot of credit for sticking by Ruby. This story gives you a glimpse of Hollywood behind the scenes. An amusing story with a bit of angst. I loved both of the narrators for this audiobook.

American narrator is AWFUL

Story was fine, British narrator was great, American narrator was horrible. There were times I couldn’t tell if it was a fake American accent it was so bad. I agree with the other review that questioned why the American narrator was yelling.

Good

I liked the story a lot. It's fun to listen to. I liked narrator with the British accent. The other narrator was ok. I was hoping that the other narrator had a more consistent accent. It went from a normal Cali accent to a mash-up of british-southern drawl amalgamation. There were a couple of times where that narrator changed her voicing even if she was speaking as the American starlet. I had to rewind to figure out what was going on. But, nothing that I couldn't ignore. The story was fun and I enjoyed the whole reading experience overall.

Short but sweet

This a cute story about two strangers who get tangled together after a drunken night, try to make the most of it, and end up falling in love. Don't forget to toss in an overbearing mother as the villain. It absolutely takes way too long for them to confess feelings to each other, so if you like a slow, slow, slow burn, then this is for you. Not a lot of spice involved either. This is definitely romance driven.

My only downside was the difference between the narrators. They aren't really able to capture each other's accents very well and the difference is distracting at times. I'm an Emily Beresford fan and love her character voices. And Rachael Beresford's english accent is fine. It's just when Emily goes for an english accent and Rachel goes for an American accent. But that's just me.

Overall, I definitely recommend this book. At under 6 hrs, it's relatively short.

Decent story line

Narrator seemed to combine voices at time. Emily was great. Ruby and Denise, uh NO.

Emily narrator was great

The narrator for Emily is the only good thing about this book. It's hard to believe the 2 FMCs are almost 30 with how they act. And the narrator for ruby is always yelling. Why? It's funny her character is supposed to be a talented actor and she's over acting the part

Narration issues

The narrators together are not good.
Seems like some editing could have helped as they were editing this book together.
I kept going between 1.20ish speed and .85ish speed but (all the yelling and emphasis in the wrong places doesn’t make this relaxing listen).
Random accents...mom sounded more Irish or American Southern all in the same tirade..weird. I think I could like the story more if I wasn’t so distracted by the narration.

~Couldn’t Stop Listening!~

I REALLY enjoyed this book! The narrator for the voice of the mother was really hard to listen to. Bc she was so harsh and mean all the time! Which I guess is what she was trying to portray. And even though I’m sure she “loves” her daughter…But as a girl mom it made it really difficult when it was on the mom parts! Other than that it was an extremely enjoyable book!

Decent Book!

Overall, decent book. The love story progressed super fast, so much so that I found myself saying really at points, but still it was good to watch. The narrators did a good job as well.

4.5 out of 5

This is your typical romance. I liked the main characters but the mom was a piece of work. And of course the whole don't say how you feel till it's almost too late thing. Other than those two, it's a nice love story - nothing tear worthy though.
