Publisher's summary

"Reminiscent of the classic movie Sabrina, this heartwarming Victorian-era treatment will please Christina Dodd's many fans." -- Publisher's Weekly

Since she was a little girl, Celeste has had one burning desire: to marry rich, handsome Ellery Throckmorton. The education she receives at the Distinguished Academy of Governesses gives Celeste a refinement that complements her ravishing beauty, and makes her bold romantic dream more attainable. But, alas, temptation gets in the way...

For wherever Celeste turns, it is not Ellery she encounters, but his intriguing older brother Garrick. She cannot disregard the fluttering of her heart whenever Garrick deigns to smile at her. And the passion she senses smoldering beneath his formidable control tempts her in a manner a lady must never allow...

Great narrator!

It’s a wonderful story. I really liked it but the narrator is great. I think she made the story better.

A Nice Read

Celeste is the daughter of the Throckmortin family's deceased cook and the gardener and is sent away to the Governess school when she is young because she is desperately infatuated with the handsome youngest son Ellory. She then returns older and much more beautiful. It was kind of irritating in the beginning how she jumps right in trying to woo Ellory STILL thinking she is in love with him. I found it hard to believe since she has seen more of the world during her employment and considering how she is supposed to be smart (speaks multiple languages and finds out the hero's secret). Luckily Garrick intervenes not too long after and saves the story. In the end I rather liked it.

Superb

This is the best in the series so far and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The similarities to the movie Sabrina (don’t know if that was based on a book) are obvious but there are sufficient deviations to keep it interesting and enjoyable. The H and h have depth and are well matched. Great narration too for both male and female voices.

Story Content

Christiana Dodd is an author I've enjoyed in the past but NOT this book. The hero is actually raping the heroine because she 'owes' it to him. It's all in his head. Rape isn't something I want to read about in a romantic historical novel between the two lead characters. Returning this book
