Great Beginners guide to training a horse!

I’m completely new to the world of training horses, and this book does such a great job of helping beginners understand the basics of horsemanship! It’s extremely detailed and easy to follow.

From chapter 1, the author emphasizes that horses will learn from your body language and just like humans, horses have a “flight or fight mode”. I was clueless about how the position of a horses tail tells you what they are communicating (e.g - high tail means they are alert, while a low hanging tail means they are submitting to you). Incredible book filled with tons of gems- would recommend to anyone interested in owning or learning more about horses!

Great Horsemanship Principles!

I’m not a trainer or a horse handler, but I wanted to try horseback riding with my wife, and this book helped a great deal! We didn’t want to go into our horseback riding lessons clueless, and this audiobook gave us the needed knowledge. The instructor was even impressed with how much we knew, plus we noticed he made a few mistakes while handling the horse. 😊

Thorough foundation

Having listened to the first part of the series separately, I was happy to find that there were other books to continue learning about horsemanship. In continuing the series, I now have a more comprehensive view (as a beginner, at least!). One of my favorite parts is where the author covered some troubleshooting - very helpful, if not necessary, to beginners.

A perfect gift for a novice

I purchased this audiobook for my niece who has always been mad on horses but is only now getting the opportunity to interact with them.

She told me how excited she is to embrace the techniques and skills outlined and be able to correctly develop an idle passion in to a full blown hobby. She said she particularly enjoyed learning about the best ways to get started and the advantages bonding with a horse can provide.

This masterfully put together book by Augustus Walton imparts immense knowledge and expertise and covers everything a beginner needs to know, from selecting the ideal breed to overcoming difficulties. Andrew Rowe does a perfect job with the narration making this an excellent resource for any budding horseman.

Very informative

This audible series is awesome. It’s a perfect starting point if you’re interested in owning a horse. Horse ownership is a big investment, so doing your research is very important. I don’t own a horse, however I wanted to learn more about these great animals. I enjoyed learning how important bonding and the gaining their trust and understanding how to talk their language. The author also covers picking your breed and getting over challenges that may come your way. Very well narrated. Highly recommend

Interesting and Informative

I've been curious about horses especially after watching movies like The Horse Whisperer, Seabuiscuit, The War Horse, to name a few. And recently, the series Yellowstone. I got curious about breaking a horse and how the rider makes it look so easy to make the horse do what he wants. This book helped me understand a lot about horses - breeds, cold blood-hot blood, what they're best at, how to ride. I've learned horses' behaviors like what it means when their tail is up or down for example. It has a lot of lessons, tips and information. If you're interested in horses, there's a lot that you can learn from this book!
