So Much Information!

Herbs and Spices is a great resource. I love that Susan Hollister gives a history of the spices as well as how to use them. There's so much information here, from growing to preserving to how they taste. This book even discusses the health benefits of the various herbs.


I love garlic, so I was fascinated with the section that discussed how garlic has been used throughout history. I plan on using the instructions on how to grow it. In fact, I plan on using a lot of the growing instructions. I feel like, with the information in this book, I am more confident in starting my own garden. 


The section on lavender was interesting as well. I don't think about using it in food much, but I think I'm going to try it now. I also didn't know that the tea has some health perks.


Any experimental chef (or a mom trying to feed her family healthier meals) should have this book. This is the kind of book that should stay in the kitchen and be referenced over and over.

Relaxing Read

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book. Somehow I managed to find the time to listen to it completely in one setting. I description and uses of all herbs and spices will to be very useful. Particularly for me, the additional uses over and above the cooking options. The narration was at the proper speed to be able to listen and take notes at the same time. I love learning new things and this book provides the opportunity to find new uses for the herbs and spices you have growing in your area. I have read and enjoyed other books by Susan Hollister and this one did not disappoint. I highly recommend this audio book.

Enjoyed learning about herbs and spices

I really enjoyed learning about herbs and spice through this audiobook. I listen to it while I'm cooking and start incorporating different herbs and spices in my dishes. It's enjoyable and soothing to listen to while making meals.
