Publisher's summary

I-Day is near at hand, and soon the Fangborn will reveal themselves to humankind. As a member of this secretive race of werewolves, vampires, and oracles, will archaeologist Zoe Miller be prepared?

Still grappling with the newfound powers she gained after opening Pandora's box, Zoe shares the responsibility of protecting "Normal" humans. Having long preferred to keep to the shadows, she knows the pending revelation of the Fangborn will set the world on fire. With Fangborn enemies in the Order of Nicomedia forcing their hand, Zoe and her supernatural Family have no choice but to step into the spotlight. But that decision has garnered the attention of the powerful and otherworldly beings known as the Makers. They claim to have created the Fangborn - not as saviors, but as predators. And it seems they have their own plans for Zoe...and for the fate of all the Fangborn.

Filled with stunning twists, Hellbender takes the Fangborn series to a thrilling new dimension.

Meh

This series had a very strong beginning. However, it lost me in the second book. I pushed on to the third book but it didn't get any better. Kate Rudd did a great job with the accents.

Book 3

Very detailed and interesting but a little too much "out there" for me. Good character development, storyline, and plot. Very unique.

Good with potential to be great

The story is well written for the most part, it’s certainly interesting and different in a good way. The narrator does a pretty good job but not a great job, her voices r good but not enough variety for all the characters and could use more infliction.
The main issues I have with this book are:
1) Lack of a summary of book 1. I read/listen to a lot of series and don’t always recall the characters or even important story lines from previous books and appreciate a quick summary to jog my memory.
2) The story is a bit choppy in several places.
3) The story is a bit confusing in places. It’s like the main character assumes you know what she’s talking about to start some of her sentences and then at the end of the sentence you figure out what the heck she was talking about or sometimes it’s not till the end of the paragraph before you know and then I’m backing up to listen to the whole sentence or paragraph again so it makes sense.
Other than those things I do like it, I love the premise of the story and will buy the next book in the series.

Are there more!

I wish there were more levels. This was a great ending to the series but it can also lead to a spin off.

I won’t be reading any more in this series.

Perhaps because the start of this novel could have used more background information I found it a bit chaotic. I didn’t identify with or even like the main protagonist.

As for the performance I really disliked the use of two voices, one when the protagonist is talking and a different one for the narration by that same protagonist.

BETTER THAN PREVIOUS 2 BOOKS

On chapter 15 it gets stupid again...

The author has drastically improved with her style of writing and how she flows through the action scenes. She still has several instances of scatter brained rambling with Zoey as she tries to lead the reader in a specific direction, but due to the writer's lack of knowledge or because she is not in touch with reality, she puts the characters into self contradictory actions. She also lacks the spine or self fortitude to write things that could offend readers.

Where or will there be a # four??

Kate Rudd did a much better narration on book three . I would say more Macha {if that is really a word} , and a lot less of the whiney weak Zoey.
story line very good. I own the entire series and it keeps growing and getting better.

Loved this series

This is one of my favorites series and am sad to see it end. It was left so you think it might continue with a new arc but not sure if it will. I hope so. The narrator did a great job with all the characters and bringing the story to life. I would love to see more of this story. Highly recommended.
