Publisher's summary

In the first thrilling installment of Chloe Neill's spinoff to the New York Times best-selling Chicagoland Vampires series, a new vampire will find out just how deep blood ties run. As the only vampire child ever born, some believed Elisa Sullivan had all the luck. But the magic that helped bring her into the world left her with a dark secret. Shifter Connor Keene, the only son of North American Central Pack Apex Gabriel Keene, is the only one she trusts with it. But she's a vampire and the daughter of a Master and a Sentinel, and he's prince of the Pack and its future king.

When the assassination of a diplomat brings old feuds to the fore again, Elisa and Connor must choose between love and family, between honor and obligation, before Chicago disappears forever.

It’s getting even better in Chicago

I loved the Chicagoland series and in all honesty I didn’t think it could get much better than Merit and Ethan. But I think I was wrong the next generation looks like it could be even more exciting and interesting. I can’t wait to see that happens next with Connor and Alisa...this is going to be good.

I love a good middle ground heroine!

I found this as a suggested book and took a chance on it. I really liked the characters and story line. Am all caught up in the series and await the next one.

I feel like Ms. Neill did a good job creating a world, developing her characters, and giving them substance and personality. This isn't the Great American Novel, but it's a good entertaining and fun series I'll hopefully continue to enjoy!

Interesting plot

Interesting to see where this story will go. I prefer a story that comes together a little more. The end is not a cliffhanger but is leading. I like a little more closure.

Prophecy according to Alpha Gabriel! good start

Not as much romance. The beginnings of it that I would have expected to be in the former series. Although there is more about their childhood mentioned. They come up against one of the biggest foes they have in this book. I feel their childhood and parents dilemmas could have been a book in itself. It may have included some of the other births during that time as well. Overall I am anticipating the next book that hopefully will build on the child of the Master of a vampire house and the child of the Alpha. They are clearly aware of what they both want and that shouldn't be the issue. Enemies made because of what they want may be the biggest issue.

Fantastic!

Fantastic start to a spin-off of the Chicagoland Vampire series! I always dread reading about the offspring of beloved characters where they're all grown up, but this author does it very well! I really loved Connor and Elisa!

Not a fan of Lulu, though. The fact she's purposefully ignoring her magic because of fear she's like her mother? When it's life or death? People fear becoming their parents all the time, but they don't usually ignore their talents and abilities, they just strive to be better or strive for a different path. This is like Connor refusing to shift into a wolf so that he's not like his father. o.o Or Elisa refusing to drink blood or use vampire abilities. It is a PART of her.

Wild Hunger

I wasn’t sure what to expect. I know that I loved the Chicagoland vampire books and knew that Elisa was going to be special. I like that she is older in this book and her magic is something we learned about at the end of the last Chicagoland book but you don’t need to have read that series to understand it.

The fact that she keeps it hidden from her family makes me wonder though. But I like that she can be talk to Connor about it and that he doesn’t judge her. The fact that he is in line to be the next Alpha of the North American Central Pack and they are having feelings could be iffy since Elisa is the first vampire born and I don’t think the shifters will like that.
The fairies really through a wrench into the peace talks and this book is intense but I loved it!

I want more I can’t wait to press play on the next book.

I also really liked Suzanne Elise Freeman’s narration I am glad that we they changed narrators for this series as much as I like Sophie we did need a new voice.
