I have listened to this book 5 times now. The book is packed with great information, so much, in fact, that I have had to listen multiple times to take it all in. Every chapter contains life changing (for the better) information, from food specific facts, to antibiotics, to disease fighting info, this book has it all. Whenever I find myself turning to processed foods, I open the PDF and make Dr. Fuhrmans Tomatoe Bisque soup, it is delicious and filling! And I never geel bad about "over" eating these nutritarian recipes because I know they won't make me fat or unhealthy. My 4 year old and 6 year old eat The Black Bean Brownies every morning for breakfast. I tell them it's chocolate fudge and they DON'T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. Thanks Dr. F!

This is a must read for anyone ready to understand, support and trust the immune system to keep us disease free, naturally without drugs and the many potential side effects.
The book is informational and does reinforce the notion that eating organic veggies and fruits are healthy, however I could only read this book while running on the treadmill because it gives me reason to keep going but I could not read it in the car or while relaxing. The reader reads in a monotone, with no excitement or passion. If you listen for more than 15 min it puts you to sleep.
Joel Fuhrman is so passionate about his work in this book. Some of the words and scientific terms through me off a bit but the pdf was a great resource. I would recommend this to family and friends and anyone who has always been puzzled by the health industries conflicting statements and analysis.
Just when I thought I knew it all.
This is not a bad book about nutrition, it's just not that original. Most of it is a sermon about how vegetarianism or, at least, about how limiting the amount of meat you consume will solve all of your health problems. There are also sermons about why the use of antibiotics is evil and about why multivitamins are useless at best.
I agree with some of Joel Fuhrman's ideas. However, I didn't find this to be the "breakthrough program" that it is advertised to be. The best points are that it comes with a long PDF with good information and recipes, I thought he did a good job of addressing "superfoods", and he did a decent job of addressing supplements.
As to the bad points, there were quite a few. He advises against antibiotics for almost any reason, which I find to be dangerous, especially for children, the elderly, and people with compromised immune systems. Ditto for vaccinations, although he makes a decent case for being cautious about them. He also advises against seeing your doctor except in dire circumstances. In my experience, if I wait for the dire circumstance, I may not be able to get to a doctor. I also found some of the information about vitamins and supplements to be suspect, at best.
It's not a bad choice for someone who needs more encouragement to eat more fruits and vegetables or for someone interested in dietary supplements and "superfoods", but there are better books about nutrition out there that would give you better information. My recommendation is the nutrition audiobook offered by The Great Courses.
As to the narration, I have noticed a lot of horrible reviews about Ned Sparrow's performance. I thought his performance was perfectly adequate. I wouldn't want to hear him read Shakespeare, but for a health and wellness book, he did fine. I listened at a speed of 2x, so maybe that made him sound better.
Overall, for a medium-length book about nutrition, it could have been a lot better, but if you choose to buy it anyway, be sure to download the PDF.
Informative- information everyone should know but sadly won't
Yes a real eye opener stuff schools should be teaching or presenting but sadly will not.
Similar to salt,sugar,fat both books should be required reading unless of course you enjoy being sick and headed for an early death. Will open your eyes to the crap you are feeding your kids and to be blunt why the youth of today are fat and lazy. You will be sickened by how badly you have been fooled by the food companys or should i say cigarette company's that switched industrys.
My ranking is 5 stars, but 2 stars goes to the reader. Disappointed by the reader.
The detailed information & clear explanations
He greatly distracted from this excellent book. He lacked the passion of the author & had gross mispronunciations of hundreds of essential words.
Yes, but difficult to absorb with one reading/listening.
The reader/narrator diminished from easy understanding of many critical explanations by his mispronunciations. I was listening & learning from a medical science background.
