Publisher's summary

Escape to the Gulf Coast of Florida with Georgia Carpenter as she gets a second chance at life, love, and happiness.

In the middle of an awful divorce, 53-year-old Georgia Carpenter finds herself out of luck, time, and money. Then her phone rings with the news that her great aunt has died and left her a cottage in the Gulf Coast town of Blackbird Beach.

Georgia has no idea what awaits her on the other coast of Florida. All she knows is that she has nowhere else to go. And no reason to stay where she is.

Fortunately for her, life has far more interesting plans than she ever could have realized. Including making the acquaintance of a handsome handyman and getting the chance at a brand-new start.

Finally!

Loved having a book that’s easy to listen to that’s interesting, easy to follow and I could read it to a daughter or mother without having to skip portions. Narration is excellent! Kudos!

not a complete story

I was excited for the book... older 52 or 53 year old woman starting over in a small beach town ..opening a b and b...
cute handyman, good relationship with her daughter...a family struggle with her son...
and as things just start to come together...the book is over.
it is one of those series, where first book is character building...and actual story is continued in next book.
I will not continue, as I will have to purchase complete series to get the whole story.... which should be one book.
frustrated 😠

Don’t bother

The story was very disappointing it drove on and on and on and then the ending was very abrupt and left so many storylines hanging with not knowing what happened. It seems like the book needed at least 10 more chapters

The beginning of an adventure!!!

Book 1 has been a rollercoaster of emotions.
Both Mia and Georgia are down on their luck. Simultaneously they both need to get out of town when a surprise gift was bestowed onto them. As they get settled in this sleepy sea side town their relatives story begins to unravel.
The narrators in this audiobook are very well matched for the characters.

Smarmy male narrator

Enough said. He sounds as if he is in a bodice ripper novel. Ugh! I’d run from some guy who sounded like that.

Unfinished

I enjoyed the book, but felt it ended very abruptly. I’d still like to know about all of the characters and the new adventure they were embarking on.

Horrible incomplete ending

The ending was in the middle of the story with no conclusions. I was stunned

Blackbird Beach #1

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Women's Fiction > Chick Lit, Family

Featuring: Divorcée, Florida, Inheritance Trope, Multiple POVs

Rating as a movie: PG-13

My rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

My thoughts: 📱24% 1:23:10 Ch. 8 - I love it! It's giving me a little Rose Harbor vibe but in a completely different setting. I love beachy books.

This may not be an amazing story, but it was fantastic to me. The only issue is that I feel like I read the beginning of a book; there was no resolution, so I'm jumping into the next book immediately.

Recommend to others?: Yes! This story was sweet without being cheesy.

good but cliffhanger to make you buy the next one

A good light listen. This is why I like small town beach romance. Quite short though. I just wish they made 1 book instead of small books out of it. It looks like cliffhanger books to make you buy the next one and the next one. I hate it when authors do that to earn more royalties from incomplete books. Narration is great tho.

Fun story

This is a fun story. It's also one that aligns with the perspective of making lemonade when life gives you lemons. The readers help make it fun. The surprise at the end definitely hooks you for the next book!
