Publisher's summary

In this funny romantic series, the Shackleford sisters descend on a Regency society that doesn't know what's hit it…

....Reverend Augustus Shackleford's mission in life (aside from ensuring the collection box was suitably full every Sunday) was to secure advantageous marriages for each of his eight daughters. A tall order, given the fact that in the Reverend's opinion they didn't possess a single ladylike bone in the eight bodies they had between them. Quite where he would find a wealthy titled gentleman bottle headed enough to take any of them on remained a mystery and indeed was likely to test even his legendary resourcefulness. ....

Grievously wounded at the Battle of Trafalgar, Nicholas Sinclair was only recently returned to Blackmore after receiving news of his estranged father's unexpected death. After an absence of twenty years, the new Duke was well aware it was his duty to marry and produce an heir as quickly as possible. However, tormented by recurring nightmares after his horrific experiences during the battle, Nicholas had no taste to brave the ton's marriage mart in search of a docile obedient wife. …..

Never in his wildest dreams did Reverend Shackleford envisage receiving an offer for his eldest daughter from the new Duke of Blackmore. Of course, the Reverend was well aware he was fudging it a bit in describing Grace as respectful, meek or dutiful, nevertheless, he could never have imagined that his eldest daughter's unruliness might end up ruining them all….

Perfect for fans of funny, lighthearted Regency Romances with a little bit of steam.

Good

The series is really good but that male narrator drives me crazy. I cannot even continue the series if I have to hear him talk.

Lighthearted

Book One in the Shackleford Sisters Series, introducing the characters as well as the love story. It’s kind of a silly, slapstick comedy that’s easy to read, but covers some of the effects of the trauma of war.
The Audible narration is pleasant.

Missed the mark

Although I enjoyed the short read, it is a throw away book. Read it. Forget it. But it should’ve been so much better. Can you imagine a thicker that has eight girls I thought there was lots of Waze to really enjoy this read. But you never ever Heard from any of the eight or nine kids or ladies. The oldest child, who is of course, not a child. Period. Period. Her name is Grace and is not graceful.! I thought she’d be very spunky, because at first she thought she would be. But she was really hard to really talk and doesn’t really put up for herself. She throws up. She thinks. Cries. And she does a thing that I really hate is she says how sorry she is to her husband, even though she really wasn’t in fault at all. He really was arusticate …. Lot of the problems would’ve been if they just actually talked one time. So I was glad that I read it but I was glad when it was done. You may love it. No problem. I think we’ll finally hear the other sisters. Probably one at a time. Maybe it was easier for the author rather than worrying about multiple personalities.

Story was pleasing but some voices were hard to listen to

The voices of the Vicar and others is irritating and very hard to understand . Main character voices were fine

Absolutely Fabulous !

Oh my, but this book is a delightful romp! I believe I may have hurt myself by laughing so much! I just adore the narration. The British accents and the over the top mannerisms of Grace's family reminds me of the classic black and white films of the 40s.
The Vicar and his Curate is a hoot!
This book is a must buy item for your Regency Romance collection!

Humorous lighthearted Listen

Sometimes I just want to be entertained and not have to concentrate on all the details of the furnishings and landscapes. The author tells a funny story and allows the read to fill in the blanks.
The narrators voice are comical and add to the story telling and humor.
Great lighthearted listen

Loved the book- didn't like the audio

This book was lovely to read: just the right amount of intrigue, drama, suspense and romance. HOWEVER the audio was a different story. There was a male and female reader however, the male reader sometimes played the female parts and vice versa. I found it very confusing to follow which disturbed the enjoyment of this wonderful story.

Stupidity

It was horrible. I have never read nor listened to such a ludicrous storyline. The reader was laughably annoying. Pathetic waste of time.
