Publisher's summary

Running a restaurant was hard, but it filled Clive’s life with meaning. Running through a portal was easy, but it filled Clive’s life with demons.

Weak in a world full of strength, all he and his friends have is their grit and determination to survive as they navigate this brutal, war-torn land of magic in search of a way home.

There’s a problem, though. Clive’s been cursed. A little stabby, stabby from a demonic knife catapults them into a race against time to find a cure. Fighting their way across Falritas, they need friends and levels like there’s no tomorrow. Because there might not be…

God of the Feast is a LitRPG/GameLit portal fantasy set in a chaotic land ruled by ruthless Gods, complete with game mechanics, progression system and empire-building. Despite their best efforts, the characters are driven by anger, fear, and lust, and as a result their journey is full of dark humor, violence, and profanity.

Alot of fun

Theres a hateful review that makes no sense. The story was fun and a great length. The narrator used specific effects to signal the different means of talking so that you dont waste time trying to figure out how or have to endure reading the description of how they communicate every time. The stilted talking pauses at some parts is part of the accent and isnt bad. Jonathan probably just hates the UK

Was pretty good, until the end.

The first 3/4 of the book was pretty good, but it felt like it was just dragging on for the last few hours (about 4 or 5). I prefer fewer, longer books but there were a few places I felt they could've just cut forward a few minutes and nothing would've been missed. The ending also felt very flat and more like a smash cut than a scene transition.

I absolutely loved this book

Even though this title has a few issues like echo especially in the beginning it does not diminish the overall amazing narration or story, I mean the narrator even sings at one point and he sings well. I hope that the narrator continues this series because even though there are slip ups here and there he adds to the great writing and helps to bring these character to life even further and I hope to see him narrating even more fantasy books in the future.

This book has genuine and relatable characters to the point that they said things I would have said/thought if I was in a similar situation, these characters have actual Arcs that matter and affect them throughout the story for better or for worse. I also laughed out loud on multiple occasions simply because the banter felt so genuine between everyone even to the point that if it became too mean spirited people would get called out for being an ass.

Without spoiling anything this book overall is an absolute deal it has a great story and is 34 hours of almost constant entertainment that knows when to slow down a little to let the audience process things, while also letting characters learn from mistakes and really showing us that these people are truly in a world they don't understand without making them complete idiots unless it makes sense for them to be idiots in certain situations. In addition the author does a great job of showing how modern sensibilities could help or hinder someone in a world so focused on individual power and how selfish and manipulative the powerful can be if given the chance, even if it means hurting or killing millions and how living a long life and gaining tons of power may not make someone wise it may just cause insanity or extreme detachment towards those whom are weaker.

P.S if the echo in this book throws you off at first it slowly goes away till it is mostly gone at some point later in the book. I am not sure when since the story sucked me in and I forgot about it rather quickly.

Whew…

What a ride. A good story and over all I enjoyed it. Though I can’t say I was ever really invested in it, I had a hard time connecting to the main character and the heavy accent made it had to understand in the beginning.

Hot head MC w/ a drinking problem

Written as first person. Good humor and fun at times. I’m curious if the foul mouthed drunk South Boston vibe will get old. MC survives early based on dumb luck and not his own abilities, for those who enjoy a strategist this doesn't lean that direction.

Spoilers:
Knowing your a target in a strange world and proceeding to get drunk in a bar and run your mouth about your travel plans seems less than intelligent. The MC’s friend has his head popped off and he is bemused watching the fight immediately afterward? WTF? OK, I start thinking this is what snaps these guys into being serious because they reflect on how getting drunk didn't help prevent their friend from getting his head snapped off... Nope, another frat boy drunk session is just around the corner, black out drunk...

Stat assignment concerns - Perception of 5 once his strength hits 38 would leave Clive as a dead Clive, Perception stays at 5 as his constitution hits 61, Perception stays at 5 as his constitution hits 91, Perception gets to 6 as constitution gets to 100.

Constant heavy drinking by Clive and his friends continues as the story goes on, Clive mentions several folks he doesn't trust and yet he gets so drunk he is unaware while he is alone around those same people,
I don't get the logic. A lot of content that mixes like oil and water.

Long and entertaining book. Great deal and book. Narrator did a great job and I love the accent. Already purchased book two and am eager to get into it.

Rough around the edges but good!

So the MC is not always likable but he has promise. For the nice long story it was worth a credit and I will get the next book.
