Another Win!

Glory’s story was so good. I love how all of this authors books are connected but can stand alone. I am a fan for sure of this author! 😊

It’s a good story

I’ve read every one of GC’s books and this is a good story but not my favorite in the series! I do love the Chinese details in the book, and I have always loved Glory. The story has a lot of internal contemplation smothered in doubt and I guess I just wish the story line spent more time building a relationship between the couple.

Another winner from Grace Callaway! Glory gets the hero she deserves in this steamy, smart, and heart wrenching story. Grace weaves the pain and reality of the late Regency & Victorian eras into all her works, but the history in this book is especially moving. Many unexpected twists, lots of love, and happy tears. A must listen!

Beautiful Story

Marian Hussey was fantastic as the narrator and the story was so romantic and steamy !I enjoyed the characters of Glory and Wei . Wei accepted Glory for who she was and vice versa. They helped each other and were there for each other when needed.
The author wove bits of Chinese culture and historical tid bits throughout the story and made the story more enjoyable and relatable. The ending sets us up for the next book in the series .I can’t wait for Charlie’s story! She is such an interesting character

Grace Callaway Does It Again!

From the narration to the story line, this story was wonderful!

Glory and Wei’s love story was an immediate connection between the two. I think there was some foreshadowing of this match in a previous story so this strong connection between the two wasn’t a surprise. However, I throughly enjoyed how Callaway told their story and I truly felt the characters’ emotions.

Weak Premise

Was so excited based on reviews to read this, first for me, Grace Calloway novel. As a seasoned historical romance reader, a new author with a rare perspective seemed to be waiting. Wrong. While the under explored era of the opium wars with Chinese characters gleamed brightly, my disappointment with the Angel's foray into crime solving left me feeling cheated. Ms Calloway has sex scenes down pat. Her characterization of Wei and his struggles had me engaged. The weak portrayal of a supposed strong heroine as a crime solver with a group of 'Charlie's Angels' came up very short. A FMC who is supposed to be an investigator comes across as immature and childish. Hardly a match for the MMC.
Such a wasted storyline. Dog napping? Really? Can't take this seriously.
Loved the martial arts theme and the revenge format. Just felt like the ladies were a waste of a great storyline.
No more Grace for me.
