Publisher's summary

In Longing, the third book in the Bailey Flanigan Series by best-selling author Karen Kingsbury, Bailey struggles with her feelings for longtime love Cody even as she grows closer to movie star Brandon Paul.

After a long and lonely silence from Cody Coleman, Bailey Flanigan begins to spend more and more time with her Hollywood co-star Brandon Paul. Nights on the town in New York City and long talks on the balcony of Brandon's Malibu Beach home make Bailey dizzy with new feelings and cause her to wonder if her days with Cody are over forever.

Meanwhile, Cody's work coaching a small-town football team has brought him and his players national attention. In the midst of the celebration and success, Cody finds himself much closer to a woman who seems to better understand him and his new life.

Even so, rarely does time go by without Bailey and Cody longing for each other and unable to move forward. Will an unexpected loss be the turning point for Cody? Will Cody and Bailey find a way back together again for the first time in more than a year? And if they do, will their brief time together be enough to help them remember all they've been longing for?

Featuring members of the popular Baxter family from best-selling author Karen Kingsbury’s beloved Redemption series, discover what’s in store for these two beloved characters.

Sweet, contemporary Christian romance.

Where's the UNLIKE button?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Possibly. This was by far my least favorite book by Karen Kingsbury but as with all the books, the life changing message out weighed the bad.

Would you be willing to try another book from Karen Kingsbury? Why or why not?

Of course! She normally tells wonderful stories!

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?

Bailey's voice was great. It just matched the picture I have painted of her in my mind. My least favorite was Brandon...he just seemed like a child. Not to mention, Karen, why oh why did Bailey let him keep calling her BABY everyother sentence? That nickname really didn't match her character at all!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Decisions.

Any additional comments?

I was very sad and more than a little suprised at the direction this book went. I felt like readers were led down one path for the last several years and then suddenly expected to be happy embracing an entirely different situation out of the blue. I hung on as long as I could waiting for the tide to shift but I finally got so tired of wondering that I lost patience and Googled the ending of the last book. I was suprised and so dissappointed in how things were going to end that for the first time ever in my history of reading Karen's books, I literally lost any interest in the final book.I still haven't read it, even though it has been a few weeks since I finished Longing.

Disappointing

Would you consider the audio edition of Longing to be better than the print version?

I thoroughly enjoy all of Kingsbury's books, but this series has really been disappointing for me. After getting to know Bailey in the

Too drug out.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The Bailey Flanigan Series, although I liked it , was just plain too long.

Would you recommend Longing to your friends? Why or why not?

Maybe

What aspect of the narrators’s performance would you have changed?

I felt like she just wants to sell more books, but unfortunately it tends to loose ones interest.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No, because you can't get to the point of the series.

Realistic, God-centered, Romance

Karen Kingsbury’s characters wrestle with what it means to follow God in the midst of life’s challenges and conflicting emotions. Realistic dialogue clarifies characters’ faith journey as it inspires readers to pursue their own walk with God.

I found this book boring.

I've read so many of Karen's books. This one left me flat. The best scene was when Jenny told Jim she was putting down her (proverbial) pencil and stopped writing her daughter's life choices for her. Let her grow up! I think Cody has figured out how to make the hard choices and do the right thing. The narrating was confusing. Different voices for the same characters? Really? I think Bailey would be less whiney in my head if I had chosen to read the book instead of listen to it. I think Brandon comes across as too needy, selfish, and greedy. One word for these characters is 'unrealistic '

Upset you couldn't take all the heartache w/Bailey/Cody and show how God could bring them back together.
