Publisher's summary

It's been three years since the terrorist attacks on New York City, but FDNY widow Jamie Bryan keeps waking up to the same aching pain of that one Tuesday morning, when she lost her husband, Jake.

Determined to find meaning in her grief, Jamie pours her life into volunteer work at St. Paul's, the small memorial chapel across from where the Twin Towers once stood. In the stream of broken, grieving people who make their way through the church doors, Jamie connects with two men, a firefighter forever changed by the attacks, and a Los Angeles police officer.

Unsure and feeling somehow guilty, Jamie opens herself to the possibility of loving again. But a shocking revelation sends her reeling. How can this be the plan for her life?

Now only the persistence of a tenacious caring man, questions from Jamie's curious daughter, and words from Jake's treasured journal can move Jamie Byran beyond one Tuesday morning toward life.

I loved that God was the center was always at the middle of the story.

Although I loved the story line, I really did NOT like the way the narrator used a “voice in a tunnel” to indicate when anyone of the characters had a thought or to indicate God’s voice in their mind. It was so irritating!!!

Mixed

The writing in this book, or maybe the editing, was poor. The trip to New York changed dates and lengths of time more than once. (At first it would go into December, but later ended up being early November, and switched several times from 3 to 6 weeks and back.) Then the writing-- a couple times she said things like, "She did a quiet laugh," instead of "She laughed quietly." I could almost forgive it when she was writing the scenes with the little girl, but then she continued in some of the adult scenes, like she forgot where she was.

The story itself was predictable and not too believable.

As for the narrator, she was ok, but at times she seemed to get her voices mixed up.

The redeeming quality was the MESSAGE of the book, which I found to be quite inspiring. I just wish that message could have been presented with better writing.

beyond tollerable

This is definately a "God has a plan for your life so choose life" message story. If you don't catch that message the first 40 or 50 times they say it, don't worry, they say it a few hundred times more before the end of the book. I guess they figured the listener couldn't remember it for more than a few sentences so they just kept beating the listener over the head with the same message over, and over, and over etc.
There are also lots of Bible referances and lots of messages to not think for yourself but instead, ask God to give you the answer to every little thing and to pray for an answer from God if you get close to making a decision on your own without asking God to give you the answer.
The preview write up for this book should make it clear that this is a religious book and not just a novel. It seems that the write up deliberately leaves that part out.

Horrible narration-don't waste your credit/money

Would you try another book from Karen Kingsbury and/or Kathy Garver?

Karen Kingsbury definitely; Kathy Garver-NEVER- horrible accents, sing songy voice, narrated italics with sound effects that sounded like a tin can. Wish I had not wasted a credit on this book because of the narration. Have read the series and loved them but could not finish listening to this book because of the narration.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Beyond Tuesday Morning?

didn't finish it

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Kathy Garver?

Stina Nielsen, Sandra Burr, Johanna Parker, Kate Forbes, Adam Verner, Tom Stechschlute (sp)

What character would you cut from Beyond Tuesday Morning?

The narrator

Beyond Christian Propaganda

Too bad this book was not identified as an evangelizing tract. I could have skipped it. The story (which could have been quite good) is entirely masked by the clear agenda of pushing Christianity. The language used by the author is simplistic and the Bible quotes are jarring and inappropriate. Christy, by Catherine Marshall gives a beautiful example of how true Christian faith can be illustrated in a literate and elegant way. Perhaps if you need something to prop up your faith, this book may speak to you. For those of us who prefer literature, this book misses the mark by a mile.

Good story-narration..tedious

I love the stories when told by multiple voices. And I've even heard a narrator or two who can really nail every single voice within a book. However, this narrator irritated me, bored me, actually putting me to sleep, and detracted from the story most of the time. I don't mean to be harsh, but there it is.
I would love to see this audiobook re-recorded with multiple voices.
