Truly no gimmicks here!

This is a very "down to earth" book about a lifestyle approach to health. This is not a diet book. Benjamin makes it clear in this book that sustainable fat loss does not involve fad diets but rather small changes applied to ones life. Changes that involve controlling portion sizes rather than going 100% Keto. Making it a goal to do more activities through the week rather than trying a hardcore exercise plan that causes burnout. Changes such as enjoying the occasional Christmas feast or night on the town without beating yourself up over it, but then getting back to making reasonable food choices after that. He stressed that fat loss is a long game, not a short one. Quick fat loss fad diets are unsustainable and harmful while making small lifestyle changes can be much more easily sustained, although he does point out that those can still be difficult. The thing is, it's less difficult with this approach. This is a good read to get you back to the basics of making healthy food and exercise choices.

No-nonsense, no-fad approach to weight loss

This book is an excellent reference for nutrition and losing weight and keeping it off, This no-nonsense, no-fad approach to weight loss just plain makes sense, I recommend this book whether you are looking to just drop a couple of pounds or much more.

Very informative resource

The author did a great job writing this book. It contains valuable information that equips the listener with numerous tools to set themselves up for sustainable fat loss, and more importantly, an overall healthy lifestyle. The step by step guide is clear and easy to understand and the tips shared in this audiobook are very simple and practical. Highly recommended!

Overall good book with a few concerns

Overall I found this book interesting, engaging, and good, solid info on how to sustainably lose weight. As I nurse and wellness expert myself, I can get behind most of the recommendations in this book. The author's focus is on making small, gradual, easy-to-stick with changes that will have a large impact over time. He doesn't focus solely on food intake and energy expenditure- he also delves into ways of moving your body that are enjoyable for the individual, and mindset changes necessary for exacting lasting change. He stresses over and over again that no one will stick to a regimen (whether it be eating, exercising, or anything else) that they hate and if we want to lose weight and keep it off, we need to find ways to enjoy it. I also liked the positive take on focusing on what you can add, or swap, rather than what you have to "give up." In those aspects, we definitely agree.

Now for the caveat- as a medical professional, I think that the author's recommendation of how much protein to consume is excessive. I realize that there are a zillion different eating plans out there, each thinking theirs is the best, but in my research I have found a preponderance of studies and data supporting a moderate protein intake, especially for those of us who are not athletes (and that is the majority of us). The most common recommendation is 0.8g of protein per kg of body weight, The author's recommendation is much higher than that. It is true, as he states, that it can keep us feeling full longer, and lead to fat burning/fat loss, but it can also have detrimental effects- especially for anyone with less than optimum kidney function. I suggest you do your own research on that (and speak to a dietician or your medical provider) to determine the amount that is best for you.

Great Resource and Insight

I highly recommend this audiobook! The author has written a great guide to fit your weight loss needs to yourself. Nowadays, most fad diets push you to adjust yourself to the impossible muscular person on the screen or in the magazine.
