Publisher's summary

For years, Clayton Potter's been friends and workout partners with Ronnie. Though Clay is attracted, he's never come on to Ronnie because, let's face it, Ronnie only dates women.

When Clay's father suffers a heart attack, Ronnie, having recently lost his dad, springs into action, driving Clay to the hospital over 100 miles away. To stay close to Clay's father, the men share a hotel room near the hospital, but after an emotional day, one thing leads to another, and straight-as-an-arrow Ronnie makes a proposal that knocks Clay's socks off! Just a little something to take the edge off.

Clay responds in a way he's never considered. After an amazing night together, Clay expects Ronnie to ignore what happened between them and go back to his old life. Ronnie surprises him and seems interested in additional exploration. Though they're friends, Clay suddenly finds it hard to accept the new Ronnie and suspects that Ronnie will return to his old ways. Maybe they both have a thing or two to learn.

An Okay Story

This was a complete Gay For You book, but it was really sweet at the same time. Normally I'm not a big fan of GFY stories, but this one worked as Ronnie tried to figure out what he felt, not just Clayton, but in general.

I did have a hard time with how easily Ronnie seemed to give in to Clayton time after time and then only to say he wasn't sure what he wanted later.

However, I did enjoy the story and the struggles of the couple as they tried to still be friends and not lose that even though there was sexual tension there.

The narrator did an okay job. I found there to be strange breathing breaks at times which was distracting, but overall I think he added to the story as a whole.

I received a free copy of this book to read for Inked Rainbow Reads in exchange for an honest review.

Bad Narrator!

The story line was ok, but the narration left a lot to disire! Some times the tone he used was misplaced!

This book is a little different than usual.

I'm not the type to read a book just because I like one or every book by the author previously; I choose each book by their individual summary and sometimes add previous reviewers into the mix with a grain of salt. This book isn't the first one by Grey that I've read/listened to and found that I'll probably be reading/listening to it again, but it definitely has a different set up than usual.

I won't go into detail but I will say that the main characters were enjoyable to read about and even though one was a complete playboy weren't superficial at all. There weren't any strings left dangling so to speak and no ex trying to walk back in to get things moving. If you pick and choose or if you're tired of the same stuff from the author I think Grey listened and went down the road less traveled. Tristan James is stepping it up too with more diverse voices than I've heard from him before.

Good story, not fond of the narrator

What did you like best about Eyes Only for Me? What did you like least?

I like GFY stories, and this one was well done. It wasn't a complete 180; more of a realization of something that was there all along, but easily ignored.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

The narrator had really weird intonation a lot of times. A lot of lines were delivered like a cheesy 80s porn movie.

Great read, Fantastic Audio!

If you could sum up Eyes Only for Me in three words, what would they be?

Fantastic - Passionate - Poetic

What was one of the most memorable moments of Eyes Only for Me?

Taking the journey with Ronnie as he navigated the troubling waters surrounding his sexuality and accepting that.

Have you listened to any of Tristan James’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Oh heck yes, I love James voice. He has this husky tone to his voice that really fit well for Ronnie.

Who was the most memorable character of Eyes Only for Me and why?

Clay, of course. His love and devotion to Ronnie is unwavering, his friendship unmovable, even facing the very real possibility of losing him.

Any additional comments?

e-book review November 2015 4.5/5 stars...

Unrequited love is a bitch, especially when it’s your best friend you’re in love with.

Clay Potter has wanted more than just friendship from Ronnie pretty much since they met. Several things keep the lust at bay. For starters, Ronnie is all but the poster boy for straight men across the land. Few women avoid Ronnie’s charm, and not many more avoid his bed. The man is gorgeous, successful and smart, even if a little conceited. Clay is content to play the role of confidant and best friend though, until an unexpected trip home to visit his sick father changes the game entirely.

I am a huge fan of gay for you storylines, especially when there is valid confusion involved. I had a little trouble a few times with Ronnie’s back and forth, his confusion and unwillingness to admit his feelings bordering on garnering him with the title of douche, but he managed to win me over in the end. Clay truly stole the show in my opinion though. He was strong, steadfast and unwavering to spite the fact that Ronnie was killing him with his uncertainty. Clay stayed true to their friendship regardless and that was so very endearing for me. I mean, it was the promise he made to Ronnie from the start, before all the lines blurred, and he stood true to that statement to the end. In fact, I think that bond was the glue that held them together.

This book was unlike any other story I’ve read from Grey and I think I’ve read just about everything from him. I’ve said it before, that I am in awe of his imagination and ability to continue to bring fresh, believable stories over one hundred books into his career. The story was emotional and raw with a different little twist to the GFY story arch that I can’t disclose. No spoilers, but I guarantee it’s worth the read and I’m certain you’ll enjoy the ride usually confident, yet sometimes perplexed Ronnie as much as Clay did.

Audiobook review May 2016...

Tristan James tells the story of Clay and Ronnie quite brilliantly. I don't think it's a secret that he is one of my favorite narrators, he has this very husky voice that really translates well for a character like Ronnie that is this alpha male, confident and assured man. What I really liked and what I think set this audio book apart from the print version was how James conveyed the confusion Ronnie was experiencing with the way he voiced him. Subtle tone inflections turned Clay from an almost aggravating character to one I could sympathize with.

While the book and the audio version were essentially the same story, they are two different experiences. There were little things I missed from the print version that stood out in the audio version. Definitely a must read and a must listen story.

Finally! An Andrew Grey Surprise!

I don't listen/read Andrew Grey books... ever... they are all the same hum-drum format... so I stopped a long time ago... However... Tristan James narration.... well heck... I will listen to anything this man narrate!!! SOOOOOO GLAD I DID!!!!

I came for the narration, stayed for the absolutely wonderful story!! I don't know if this is a newer Grey publishing, but dang... this was just so good! The way the two main characters circled around each other was great... They were best friends, then lovers, then enemies, then friends, then lovers again!! Awesome...

Ronnie was the best character ever... He takes meds for his "head" issues...guys has got some serious OCD... a little bit of ADHD as well... but for Grey to write this character so well, and make him seem so normal... just threw me for a loop... I loved it!!! Kudo to Grey for finally writing something that kept my attention the entire time...

I honestly think it was James narration... It was simply brilliant... I always love James narration... hands down one of the best male narrators for this m/m genre out there...!!

Great buy, sale or credit... just get this book... you won't be disappointed...!!

Great story with great characters!

Wow! this is by far my favorite Andrew Grey story. it was deep/angst filled for being one of his books in my experience they are usually less intense. Lovely but less intense. I LOVED Clay and Ronnie was a character all on his own. A great plot loaded with great characters.

I absolutely loved this story of Clayton and Ronni

Any additional comments?

Ronnie is straight and a total slut. Clayton has been in love with Ronnie his best friend for years in some way without the sex part these two seems to be the perfect couple if you know what I mean!
After Clayton gets a call his father was hospitalize Ronnie doesn't leave Clayton's side one thing leads to another and these two ends up in a very compromising situation!
Things get uncomfortable and a bit out of hand but they sort it out soon enough.

defining my sexuality

I enjoyed the story very much, but I struggled a bit towards the end. it was drawn out. They kept going back and forth, to the point I was beginning to lose interest. But, thankfully their relationship was defined and I was able to finish. It was realistic in the sense that, everything in life especially, sex isn't black and white. The narrator was perfect for this story. I also enjoyed the chemistry between them. very intense and forthright. I enjoyed it and I liked the way it ended.
