Story
One day, I was at a restaurant with my wife, and as we were finishing up our meal, our server handed us a survey form. Realizing neither of us had a pen, my wife told me to ask the server if we could borrow one to fill out the form. Instead of doing this, I walked to the parking lot, retrieved a pen from our car, and walked back to our table. It would’ve been easier to just borrow a pen, but I opted for the route that involved less social interaction. I did this automatically, without even thinking.

Publisher's summary
Confusion, conflict, and constant worry can turn any household upside down—you must be raising a teen! But it doesn’t have to feel like a nonstop battle zone.
You’re a proud parent or guardian trying to set your kids off on the right path, but where do you start?
Whether your child has a disability like ADHD or Autism, or is just a typical scattered and overwhelmed teen, you find yourself asking, "How can I help?"
If you want to prepare your child for the "real world" and help them become successful adults one day, this book is your way forward. Your child is just as confused as you are about all the competing demands and expectations of being a teen in today's complex world. I understand this because I am a parent myself, a school psychologist, and a counselor. My many years of working with adolescents and their parents have shown me that growth and change are indeed possible!
Inside Executive Functioning Skills for Teens: Super Easy to Use Strategies, Games, Tools, and Activities That Work!, you will discover:
- What executive functioning skills are, how they develop, and why they matter
- How to help your teen if they struggle with executive functioning difficulties
- Hands-on strategies, tools, and games to improve their executive functioning skills
- How to help them regulate their emotions and encourage flexible thinking
- How to raise a calm, capable, and confident child
- And much, much more!
These are some of the most crucial years for your child, and they need guidance in dealing with some of life's more pressing concerns, such as planning, prioritizing, self-monitoring, conflict resolution, impulse control, and so on!
You can become an effective partner and your teen's best ally as you guide them through these challenges. Help your teen become a successful and independent individual. This audiobook is all you need.

Story
For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

Must Read
The teen years are some of the most critical times. Often schools do not teach life skills and leave it up to the parents. This book is what is needed to be taught in schools. The games are easy and fun to play. They are a great way to re-enforce the skills that are taught.

Well written!
The teenage years are among the most crucial. Frequently, schools do not teach life skills and instead rely on the families to do so. This is the book that should be taught in schools. Playing the games is simple and enjoyable. They are an excellent approach to reinforce the lessons learned.

Excellent resource!
As a mother of a pre-teen I found this book really enlightening. Not only are there really practical applications suggested in the book, there are explanations as to why some tactics might work better on a specific type of teen/pre-teen. I also appreciated the focus on creating independent young adults. It's not just a resource for us as parents to get through this confusing years, it's a great reminder of what this time in the lives of our children is really like. I think enough time has passed for me, that I'd forgotten exactly how confusing this part of growing up was. I was grateful for the perspective, the tips, and the general positive tone of this book.

Well written and Well Read!
A very well written account on EF skills for teenagers. The author relays her years of experience and expertise in a manner that is easily understood and therefore accessible to anyone. I found this book to be relatable, whether you are an educator, a parent or a teenager yourself; it is a practical guide to navigating various issues that are not so intuitively handled for most of us. The narration is also beautifully clear and suits the book well. Definitely recommend!

Helps Teens Learn Skills using Empathetic Approach
This audiobook is an empathetic and practical guide for parents looking to help their children navigate the challenges of executive dysfunction. The book is tailored toward teenagers but the advice is applicable to children of all ages. McHugh recognizes that every child is different and offers multiple options for parents to try with their children.
The book is well-organized and concise, with each chapter dedicated to a different executive function. McHugh explains each function clearly and gives examples of what parents might see in their teens if they struggle with a certain skill. She then offers actionable strategies and activities that parents can try with their children.
What sets this book apart is McHugh's empathetic approach. She does not shame or moralize the issue of executive dysfunction but instead offers practical solutions that can help parents and children alike. Her approach is refreshing and makes the issue seem less daunting.
This audiobook is a must-listen for parents looking to help their children develop healthy executive functions. The advice is practical, the writing is clear and concise, and the empathetic approach is a breath of fresh air. I highly recommend this book.

"Executive Functioning Skills for Teens" is an amazing resource for parents who want to help their teenagers thrive. The author, Gail A. McHugh, provides easy-to-use strategies, games, tools, and activities that can help teens get organized, improve their focus, boost their self-confidence, and develop essential life skills.
The audiobook is narrated by Magan Bass, and her warm and reassuring voice makes it easy to understand and follow the instructions. The activities and strategies are practical and effective, and they can be easily adapted to fit the needs and interests of each teenager.
What I loved most about this audiobook is that it not only provides practical tips and tools, but it also helps teenagers understand how their brain works and how they can use their strengths to overcome their weaknesses. This is a great way to empower teenagers and help them take ownership of their own lives.
Overall, I highly recommend "Executive Functioning Skills for Teens" to any parent who wants to help their teenager succeed. It's a powerful resource that can transform your teen's life and help them reach their full potential.
