Publisher's summary

When Vivian closes her eyes to go to sleep, she prays she doesn't wake up, that the world just goes away. Little does she realize her prayers are about to be answered. Vivian wakes to a world void of life. Bodies everywhere, cars smashed into buildings and each other.

It seems whatever happened occurred in an instant.

Everyone is dead. Everyone but her. Now Vivian not only searches out others, but for answers as to what happened and why.

Great story BUT....

Great story but I almost quit halfway through, if it had been a longer read I probably would have stopped. The overall story was great and the narrator was wonderful, however, the dialog and inner thoughts of the protagonist were often pointless and even annoying. The story started off fine, trying to figure out what had happened, but once the basics were discovered the conversations and inner dialogs served no purpose. They didn't really develope the characters nor progress the story. That's when I wanted to quit, the only reason I didn't is because I only had 2-3 hours left in the book, and I'm really glad I didn't. From that point on the story picked up, and additional characters were introduced. The ending was not at all expected and had some action and suspense.

Empty Earth

Another great book by Jacqueline Druga! I loved it. Vivian causes an accident and kills a girl. She can't forgive herself and wants to die.She wakes to find herself alive...and the rest of the world dead and gone. Caroline Keeler was a wonderful narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Creative

I have found Jacqueline Druga to be my all time favorite Dystopian/Apocalyptic author. This was a great read, good story twist.

My new favorite author of great dystopian novels

Jacqueline Druga pens a great dystopian book .
she always has great story's that are never that long but always grab you with a story you just don't want to end , especially with this one she has you overthinking what could have possibly happened? ,how did everyone die ? what caused it ? I wasn't disappointed ,well worth the purchase

Family Friendly Dystopian Tale

I think the target audience is middle schooler. Some worthy social issues to think over. As with Animal Farm; it can teach some critical thinking.
Narration was fine as well.

Phenomenal

It was refreshing to have a completely new take on the end. I didn’t see the twist coming and can typically pick up on it within the first few chapters.

Great twist

I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I loved the surprises at the end of the book. It’s definitely not like other post apocalyptic books, I found it refreshing to have something different.

Twists and Turns!

Excellent book, excellent performance! Kept me guessing and I was wrong every time! Easily connected to characters. My only sadness, it ended too quickly, left me wanting me.

Reads like a YA version of the apocalypse

I'm an old man, so I don't think this book was written for me. It has some simplistic plot devices (like the circumstance that initiates the entire story) that don't hold up too well under close logical scrutiny. You can suspend your disbelief, and the story progresses relatively reasonably, although in a somewhat simplistic fashion. However there's a plot twist late in the story which completely lost it for me. It very much felt like someone who had built up a series of mysterious events in a story, then couldn't find a reasonable conclusion, so went completely off the deep end. Sort of like the TV show "Lost."

I really wanted to like it

The women at the end of civilization being catty to each other and the scientifically ridiculous reasoning behind the event did me in.
