Publisher's summary

In the southwestern desert, a mysterious cult prays for the return of the Visitors.

Only one creature can derail that grand and glorious event: An evil entity, known as the Duad, can keep the Visitors from arriving and prevent the transfiguration to come.

Daley, who lives nearby, has a far more serious problem: an alien consciousness that has taken up residence in her head. Medical tests turn up nothing, but still, she knows it’s there. Among other things, the strange being’s voice...won’t stop talking!

And then Daley discovers she has the gift of healing. She can cure anything and anyone - the halt, the lame, the blind. Despite living in a small town, Daley had hoped to conceal her new ability, but the cult discovers her gift. The belief that Daley is the hated Duad leads to a series of bizarre attempts on her life.

Daley tries desperately to figure out what is really going on - is the voice in her head the devil, the Duad, a wise friend who wants to help her...or the first sign of mental illness?

A nice revamp of an old story

The basis of this story was originally conceived back in the middle late ‘70’s under a title called “Healer” by Mr. Wilson. I was in high school at the time and enjoyed it a lot. It was my favorite story for years and I still enjoy it on occasion. This version makes a modern retelling of that old story. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy this retelling almost as much as I did the original. But to me the plot isn’t original. Daley now, Dalt before. Alerets haven’t changed any and will still kill 999 of 1000. Just not on an alien planet like the original.

Another winner!

Thanks again FPW. You never disappoint. Your stories have given me many years of enjoyment. This latest installment has only added to this pleasure. The promptness with which you have supplied the sequel is greatly appreciated. The narration is first rate. Kudos to the readers.

Another great story!

Just one more by FPW! It always amazes me how many pseudo-supernatural (sp?) things the author can create. Add one more page turner to his list. I think you should read it, excellent pulp fiction.

Didn't want this to end

Great story that kept me entralled and a good break from Jack novels. Part 2 may answer lingering questions.

not finished

this story gripped me from the first sentence and kept the pace going. then nothing. I thought maybe it was a recording error, or we'd have to wait until the next book. neither, it just ended with all kinds of questions. f Paul Wilson is and has been one of my favorite authors for the last thirty years. I am really disappointed in this book.
the narrator was very good and brought life to the characters and the story.
