Publisher's summary

Iphigenia Holt is a good little witch who grew up under the thumb of a wicked mother and two powerful sisters. Pegged as a caretaker, Iphi hides a secret that would change the way everyone around her views her: she's an empath. And yet she doesn't let that stand in her way. A soaring circus performer with a fierce love for animals and the downtrodden, Iphi tumbles her way through life, hiding the hurt just being around others can inflict...until she meets an enigmatic vampire and his three hot shapeshifting cousins.

Drawn to the brightness she shines into their lives, each man promises to transport Iphi from the monotony of her life into a world truly filled with magic. They offer her love, protection - and an unconventional arrangement that will make her the scandal of Distant Edge. But when a rogue vampire attacks Iphi, it's time for the men to step up and for Iphi to fight back the only way she knows how: with love, compassion, and her inner radiance. If love can't conquer evil, her four protectors are more than willing to bare tooth and claw at her side - whether she'll have them or not.

Contains mature themes.

WoW ! Supernatural + Intrigue + Sizzle

When I read a description that included all my hot buttons, I had to dive in to my first book written by this author. I was not disappointed! Never have I read a mystery that is so well blended with the psychology of relationships, a diversity of supernatural beings (some totally new to me), and steamy hot erotica that delivers on its own level! Chloe Adler really knows how to spin a tale that is smart, sexy, and leaves you wanting more. I just downloaded Book 2 and plan to follow this series to all the possible places it can take me!!

Cliffhanger Ending!

I enjoyed this book about the sweet innocent Iphigenia or Iphi for short. She lives at home with her mother a truly horrible, demanding, controlling and selfish witch, no she really is a witch, who has driven her two older daughters away and makes Iphi's life very difficult. Iphi is a witch in a world full of other supernaturals, such as shifters and vampires, that somehow coexist with humans in the town of The Edge. She has many talents apart from being an incredibly strong and talented ariel artist in the circus she is a very strong empath.

The grandson of her mother's lover, Reese, meets Iphi when he helps his grandfather move in. He lives in a place called the Grove with his three cousins, they are all involved in some way with the local police department. Their reason for moving to The Edge was to find out what has happened to Reese's brother Nolan, for this they need Iphi's help.

During the course of this book, Iphi comes into her own as a woman and begins to see just how much she has allowed her mother to control her life. She develops feeling for all four of the men living in the Grove and when things come to a head and her safety is threatened she moves into one of the tiny houses there.

I can't really tell you anymore with giving away too many spoilers but what I will say is that in this first book of this series Iphi takes two of the men as her lovers but has strong feelings for the other two - what is going to happen next I wonder?

There are a lot of questions left hanging at the end of this book, but we did know going in that there would be so that's OK, I just need to wait now for the next book to be released.

I do own and have read the ebook of this book but I wanted to listen to it too as personally, I get more out of an audiobook, so when I was given a copy of this book as I gift I was thrilled. The audio version did not disappoint it is narrated beautifully by Alexander Cendese and Carly Robins who bring just the right feel to the story.

On point

Everything in this book sings to me. Good story. Plausible setup for all the men. Great character development. Incredible, descriptive sex.
Is too short. But hopefully whole series flows as though 1 book.

Quirky, but feels cut short

Quirky with an interesting female character and world building.
Ok, I listened to most of this book twice. I checked out book two thru my library. Both left me with the feeling of being cut off. I’d rather have one complete stand alone book than one that feels like it was chopped into two or three. *Spoiler* I’m pretty sure that the mysterious baddie has something to do with her father, but I’m not likely to pursue reading the next installment as I have a reading and review backlog.
Cendese and Robins do a decent job of narration.

Different but so good!!

I’m a little bias because RH is my favorite genre. I love the steaminess of this first book. Usually the first book of an RH is very PG but these characters move along with their relationship pretty quickly. It’s a little confusing figuring out who is what shifter and the first sex scene was a little jumbled.... hard to explain but it really wasn’t clear “who was where”. All in all I really enjoyed it and the main female character is very likable. Moving on to book 2!

Good, but some funny voices

When the guy does the heroine's voices and the female does some of the heroes, some of the voices are nasally and dopey sounding. Not the worst but sounds funny. The story is interesting, but it drags a bit. I am not feeling it with the guys, and I wish they hadn't jumped into bed so fast. I don't know if I will continue, though I think aspects of the story are interesting.

Male voice destroys what “may” have promise

Not gonna lie- it’s a good thing this is a short book because it was pretty brutal to listen too 1/2 of the time. Carly Robins does an excellent female lead, though unfortunately she makes all the male voices sound like nasally wussies.
The male narrator, Alexander, unfortunately does nothing positive for this book. ALL of his male voices sound like meaty/beefy/ took one too many steroids or punches to the head douches. (“Yo, Adrian!”) And his female voice sounds like a simpering little girl.
Listening to anything romantic was not a turn on.it was rushed an pretty plain language/straightforward. Kinda sounded like a guy off the street supplied the verbiage.
Overall I listened to it all and tried to make myself get past the male voices, but the story wasn’t that compelling to make me want to run out and get the next one.
