Keep your friends close....

Construction work isn't any sort of calling for Ethan Loeb. He gets the job done, cashes his check, and spends his free time volunteering at the retirement home his elderly mother lives in. He knows he comes across as big, gruff, and grumpy, but right now, he doesn't much care.

Until him.

...but keep your enemies in your bedroom.

Mark Weaver knows that the construction crew in charge of building a new set of luxury townhouses is more than a bit ticked off that a potential dinosaur find has derailed their tight schedule. They make it very clear that the scientists excavating the site aren't welcome. It doesn't much matter to Mark. Preserving the past trumps new construction any day.

But when Mark's car dies too far away from the work site for him to walk with his polio-damaged legs, can he accept help from a big, burly construction worker with a secret heart of gold?

Good

Loved it. Book 5 is my favorite. The only problem I had with the books is the overuse of the word "nerd". It became abrasive and a bit annoying. Other than that I wish it were longer.

So who was Eddy?

Someone named Eddy was mentioned in the story, but it was never clarified who Eddy was. So overall I thought it was a decent story. I enjoyed all characters and the bantering between them. There was a lot more sexy time then necessary in some of the stories, but to each their own.

Boys who play in dirt

Five stories with five different couples. All are introduced in the first story and each story explores a little more of the dig (both dinosaur and construction) and each couple evolves over what's happening. I love that this is a compilations of the stories as I don't know that I would be patient enough to wait for the last couple's coupling. I loved the drama in each of the stories and the individuality of each couple. Narration was good as well. Nice smooth voice and gruff when necessary. Very enjoyable listen.

Five interesting and engaging stories.

Five interesting and engaging stories.

I really enjoyed the narrator for these books.  His voice was easy to listen to and he can bring a nice gruffness to the reading at just the right times.

Great bundle of different couples that we meet in the first story and then explore with their own focus.  Plenty of drama and conflict between the construction crew and the scientists at the dig. The drama and enemies to lovers theme was entertaining and fun.

This box set includes: My Enemy Needs Me, Falling for my Rival, My Enemy's Secret, Captured by my Rival and Finding my Nemesis.

Interesting premise and creative conflicts

The stories were good for the most part. The situation which forms the foundation for the series is innovative enough, allowing for believable conflicts. The characters, who should have carried the plot, were not always as engaging as I would have liked. Sometimes I rolled my eyes at them, and too often I didn't especially believe that what they had together was more than sexual attraction. The narration was okay, especially when the actor performed the accent for the locals. Just as a point of clarity, though, archeologists and paleontologists are NOT the same. It seemed that sometimes the two words were being confused for each other or conflated to mean the same thing.

An Enemies-to-Lovers 5-Book Bundle

"Dig Deep" delivers a 5-book, 36+ hour enemies-to-lovers listen. In these linked stories, a construction crew is sidelined after the discovery of a dinosaur fossil brings in a group of paleontologists to dig up the entire skeleton. Resentments flare as the two groups have to occupy the same site; the paleontologists digging for bones and the construction guys forced to remain idle.

The main trope threaded into all of the books is enemies-to-lovers but other tropes take featured roles. There's age-gap, opposites-attract, gay/bi-awakening, disabled main character and silver foxes. I'd say there's something for everyone in this group of stories.

The plot of these books is very contrived. My suspension of disbelief was constantly challenged. Quite a lot of the extreme situations the author puts the characters through are improbable at best, if not impossible.

Characterization is uneven. There were a couple of characters that I thought early on would turn out to be horrible homophobes only to find them getting together with another man. One minute there's animosity, the next cooperation, then before you know it, they're coming to physical blows. I couldn't figure these guys out.

The relationships of Books 1-4 are enjoyable. Each one is emotional in its own way. Book 5's relationship is the weakest and I had the most difficulty getting through that story.

I liked Austin Jay's narration. It is a nicely emotional performance.

I requested and received a free review copy of this audiobook and have left this voluntary opinion.

I almost stopped the book 20 minutes into it.

The first book of the five is soo confusing and not bundled properly with the characters, the main guy would just not give up his work. I was ready to drop the book but have it one more try with book two. I must say each book got better the last two were really good that’s why I gave it a 3. The reader was outstanding and kept me with the book . Overall the last 3 books were nice to great love stories and I did enjoy them.

Enjoyable Drama

Dig Deep bundle is 5 books. This is an enjoyable book bundle with lots of drama between the construction crew and the scientists who come in when dinosaur bones are found. These two groups form a feud as the scientists want to find if there are more bones to be discovered and the construction crew wants them gone so they can get back to work. In the mean time members of each group fall in love with each other which causes more drama, sleeping with the enemy and all. I liked the end and the resolution that happened as they all find their happy endings.
Narrator Austin Jay does a fabulous job.

Good narrator

The thing I liked best about this set was the narrator. He has a good voice for this and was easy to listen too. Some of the characters bugged me and drug down my enjoyment of the story some. Overall, not a bad boxset.
