Publisher's summary

Piper’s fall was no accident. Did someone want her dead? It’s up to her sister to discover the truth in this shocking new thriller with an unreliable narrator, from the acclaimed author of Little Creeping Things.

Piper Sullivan was in a strange hiking accident last month and has been in a coma ever since. Her older sister, Savannah, can’t pretend to be optimistic about it; things look bad. Piper will likely never wake up, and Savannah will never get any answers about what exactly happened.

But then Savannah finds a note in Piper’s locker, inviting Piper to a meeting of their school’s wilderness club—at the very place and on the very day that she fell. Which means there was a chance that Piper wasn’t alone. Someone might’ve seen something. Worse, someone might’ve done something. But who would want to hurt the perfect Piper Sullivan and why?

To discover the truth, Savannah joins the club on their weekend-long camping trip on the same mountain where her sister fell. But she better be careful...everyone in the club is a suspect, and everyone seems to be keeping secrets about that tragic day.

And Savannah? She’s been keeping secrets, too.

The book Is good, narrator is awful to listen too.

Might be the most annoying voice I’ve ever heard. Sounded like she was crying a majority of the tone she talked, talks painfully slow. If there was a way to block a narrator on here I would. Book was a good story though. Ending kinda sucks.

Cliffhanger

Need to know if this is going to go further. Ahhh the betrayals. Characters okay - realistic - left some ends to be tied

Plot twists

This book was so good! I thought I had it all figured out and knew how it was going to end, but boy was I wrong! If you have ever wished you could take back or change unkind words said in anger you will empathize with the characters in this book. I finished this audiobook in one night, I just couldn’t stop listening.

3.5

The writing was great but, I honestly felt no sympathy for a single character in this story.

Enjoyable

3.5 STARS

I enjoy Chelsea Ichaso books. She writes interesting scenarios with compelling characters who seem more like actual people than an author’s creations.

DEAD GIRLS CAN’T TELL SECRETS told primarily from older sister Savannah’s point of view is her attempt to prove the younger, smarter, more perfect Piper didn’t attempt suicide which left her in a coma. Savannah thinks Piper was pushed.

Savannah is not a good detective. She finds what seems like a clue, assumes the person is guilty and sets out to prove her therapy multiple times. Each person has an explanation for the red herring in her investigation, so Savannah moves on to the next suspect. Rinse. Lather. Repeat.

I would have liked another chapter to wrap up the story.

While I enjoyed DEAD GIRLS CAN’T TELL SECRETS, I probably won’t revisit it.

Swing and a Miss

The story overall was good. It was compelling with twists and turns; however, it missed the mark and felt rushed at the end. The climax was disappointing. But it was still a good read. Just not my favorite plot twist.
