Publisher's summary

Picturesque hills stained with blood. An MO like no other. Can this senior officer draw on his paratrooper past to catch a twisted mind?

DCI Harry Grimm is still grappling with the Yorkshire Dales custom of eating cheese with cake. But the seasoned big-city cop has more than enough experience getting pulled out of bed in the middle of the night for the grisliest crimes. So the gruesome early-hour discovery of a woman’s savaged remains on the bleakly beautiful terrain has the detective keen to slam an ugly killer behind bars….

With both a clear motive and an obvious offender firmly in his sights, the dedicated policeman hunts relentlessly for the killer. But when the prime suspect goes missing and Grimm reworks the scene, he fears he sees signs of meticulous military planning and a culprit with a long list of victims.

Can the tough investigator get into the head of a murderer before he’s called to the next kill zone?

Corpse Road is the mesmerizing third book in the DCI Harry Grimm crime fiction series. If you like razor-sharp cops, insanely bent villains, and dark, gripping plots, then you’ll love David J. Gatward’s wild ride through the moors.

Love this Series

I have 305 books in my audible library – most of them mysteries or police procedurals set in the UK.
This week, I’ve blown through the first three of the series because they I so well written. The characters are believable and endearing, the setting is gorgeous, and the plot engaging. I also very much appreciate the narration, which is lively and full of warmth and texture. I strongly recommend the series.

Great

I am really loving this series. Harry Grimm and the characters have grown on me. Grimm is a great DCI and he cares about his people.
This mystery is a weird one. A camper is murdered near a road called Corpse Road, hence the title. A bit ominous, no?
Although I'm not sure about cake and cheese, I know I'll be continuing with the series.

Thrilling and chilling!

This is my favorite crime series and my favorite police procedural mystery series. This third book was extremely addictive, especially with Aubrey Parsons’s superb narration. The crimes were scary without being too graphic. My heart raced along with Harry’s at the remarkable climax. I also loved how a few chapters were told from the perspectives of a few more members of the police team. These characters are wonderful, and the writing is tense while still having friendly interactions. I can’t wait to listen to the next book. My one tiny complaint is that too many clues were given to the reader (not to the police) in the first two chapters, so I was able to figure out the killer’s identity way too early, but it was still fascinating seeing how Harry and his team figured it out. I loved every minute of this marvelous audiobook.

Cake & cheese?

Can’t get enough. Still haven’t tried the cake & cheese. The narrator is perfect for the main character.

Ready to go fell walking!

I absolutely love the Harry Grimm character. His sometimes sour disposition is far outweighed by his practicality, his knowledge of human nature, and his maturing throughout this series. The author's notes at the end of the stories are a favorite of mine. This particular on has me ready for fell walking in the Dale's and caving in Crackpot. Another "Well done!"

Corpse Road

I loved it!DCI Grimm is the best! The Corpse road is a road folks in the old days had to carry their dead up hill to the church for burial.A body has been found and it isn't a pretty sight. Aubrey Parsons was a fine narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Another good story in the series

This particular story is a little darker but it's still A good yarn. Some of the characters are further developed and I look forward to the development of some more of the minor characters. Definite for shadowing on what's to come. The audio performance was good but I just think it's very difficult to differentiate all the voices male female the different accents from the different parts of the United Kingdom. I'm glad I discovered this author and I think that place base series are well worth read.
