Charlie has prepared her whole life for the possibility that she could be shipped off to work in a colony, so when she is selected for part of the initialization phase colony laborers, she is determined to make the best out of a new life on a very different and hostile planet. Assigned as a labor assistant in the exploratory lab seems like a step up in the right direction for her. Caring for the wildlife specimens is far preferable to working as a laborer, preparing the first of the fields, or in any of the common industries.

That is, until a vaguely humanoid specimen is captured and brought in. The promise of death that clings to it is fulfilled when it breaks out from containment and she finds herself hostage to a being with a thirst for vengeance. Far away from the colony, Charlie is forced to carve out a new life for herself in a dangerous world, but will she be able to safeguard her heart from the biggest threat of them all: a male who is determined to claim all of her.

This book contains some scenes of graphic violence and sex.

Interesting new take with a centaur like Alien

I really enjoyed this one, a strong female lead who isn’t an idiot or born into a position of power. She is soft hearted and strong willed.

Exceptional

SJ does an amazing job of world building as well as establishing a relationship between the main characters. I found this book exceptional and recommend it to everyone.

Narration was excellent. Story was different than so many others. My only complaint was the so quick capitulation of FMC to “love”. But I enjoyed the story.

It is a really great book, wasn’t what I expected in a good way! Will be re-listening to it soon!

Delightfully Entertaining!

This is a great story. Once again SJ Sanders has woven a wonderful escape. Tess Irondale magnificently brought life to the characters by seamlessly going from one character to the next. The narrator was wonderful and was dedicated to artfully acting out the wonderful scenes written by Sanders. I’ve read many books and purchased multiple audiobooks by SJ Sanders and I’ve enjoyed them all. I would definitely recommend this audiobook!

OK, I could get into this one.

This was great, action, adventure, hot sex, great narrator, all the makings for a great story.

GREAT BOOK AND LISTEN

This book took me on an adventure away from my everyday life and into another reality where Charlie lived.

Charlie who had no freedoms but wanted a better life and the way for her to get and to earn her freedom wasn’t only through working hard at jobs others chose for her and living wherever they transported her to, it was more difficult than that. But for Charlie it was worth the possibilities that could be for her future freedoms. Charlie was shipped to another colony on a hostile planet and was put in charge of cleaning, feeding and caring for the captive, strange, odd and sometime scary wildlife specimens. . . where her life took an unexpected turn - learning underlining secrets and deception.

Sit back and enjoy the ride . . . be taken away from your everyday world and transported to another one.

Good book

Really enjoyed the audiobook, curious how the next book is going to turn out in this world.

Enjoyed so much I’ve listen to it more than once

Repeat read and repeat listens are rare for me. But this was so well done on all fronts my only complaint is that the series doesn’t give more stories on the same planet.

Just right

A fun adventurous read about an unscrupulous company taking advantage of the “have nots”. The main characters are fighters and I couldn’t help but wish for their HEA. I wasn’t disappointed! Looking forward to the next book.
