Publisher's summary

Veral’monushava’skahalur is an oddity among his species, a lone Argurma cyborg divorced from his own kind by choice and to escape termination as a malfunctioning unit.

Wandering the fringes of space as a salvager, he comes across a planet beyond the boundaries of the federation, rich in metals remnant of a dead civilization. Or so he thought. Confronted by cannibalistic mutations of the indigenous species, his salvage has suddenly become a lot more complicated. Even more so when he encounters a female surviving on her own....

She is strong and fearless, begrudgingly earning his admiration. Terri is hardened by a life of hunger and watchfulness, and yet is moved by a compassion that he’s never possessed. When his admiration turns into the first signs of a forming mate-bond, he knows his fate is sealed. Unlicensed mating is forbidden - if his malfunctioning wasn’t already a death sentencing, taking her for her mate would be. Yet, he finds that letting her go is no longer an option.

Contains some graphic violence and sex that may not be appropriate for all audiences.

Best narration ever

The book was good but what made it excellent was the narrators. They sucked you into this book like you were watching it all in a huge theater. Loved it

Good Story

I don't usually do Si Fi in romance but tried this one and it was a welcome change. Good story with strong characters. A touch of humor, action and some sex. A nice light novel. Kept me interested and I will probably continue the series. I am new to this writer but thought this book well done. Readers made the book come alive and loved dual narration with Christopher doing excellent male part voice and Jessica doing equally good strong female character. I would recommend. I actually spent a credit for this and was well satisfied. Not a deep book. If your looking for thoughtful sci fi this is not it but nice sexy romance with sci fi base - I would recommend.

Great story, minor trigger warning

If you don't think you can read a book where rape and violence against children are mentioned briefly then I'd skip this one. The above trigger warning is not overly prevalent but it is sort of baked into the post apocalyptical plot. It serves to make the bad guys more vile and give the good guys something to fight against.

The cast is interesting though it mainly consists of the two main characters. The human woman has a somewhat generic backstory that is made more interesting by her being multiple generations after the world ended. The alien man has a unique culture that was nicely spiced up with the addition of so much cybernetic augmentation. The author also managed to keep things from going too sci fi by keeping all the alien jargon to a minimum and presenting the alien in frequent fish-out-of-water scenarios.

In the end this was a great story that I eagerly finished as fast as I could and I can't wait to continue it. Thought I may wait for a sale since 30 dollars for 6 hours is not worth the money.

WOW

I love this series, couldn't wait for the audiobook. I had my favorite narrators playing in the background as I read the books so I could pretend it was them narrating. But now these two narrators are my favorite. Now I listen to them when I read any of my other books. 😁

One hoot for the alien!

Alien romance with the alien as the hero. Now, that works but think it's due to the narrators. They are good. Well, on to the next book as I'm digging this storyline.

Don't let the Book Cover fool you!!

I have NEVER read this author before, honestly never heard of S.J. Sanders, but audible thought I would like this book, so they kept pushing it as a recommendation for me. The book cover was a bit off putting to me, so I skipped over this book for at least 6 or more months, until now. Boy did I MISS a great opportunity to start an amazing series!! Once I started listening to the book I understood the book cover and it's perfect! The narrators are spectacular especially Christopher Boucher! His voice brings Veral to life! Jessica Threet is perfect for Terri. There is NOTHING bad about this book, from beginning to end it’s more than a 5 star book and performance.

another great paranormal romance

post-apocalyptic earth, aliens with interesting anatomy, a great sci-fi fantasy story, and a strong woman. what's not to love? the performance is fabulous including snorts, growls, and chaffing! Yes, there are some triggers including rape and abuse, detailed descriptions of dead people and murder. However, our heroine has her virginity of not her innocence and the alien is caring and empathetic with her, if a violent overprotective jerk to everyone else.

Nice story well narrated

This was worth the credit but not overly exciting. The characters were very likable and the story was well narrated.

only halfway through yet I know I'm finishing the whole series already

wow, this is a an amazing sci-fi romance. I have to say at first I was hesitant because it was done in third person and I live first person foe audible, but the narration on this and the writing is so great it immerses you in the story and I can honestly say that's very rare. so don't be afraid all of you first person narration people, give it chance this is truly an immersive story, with top notch narration!

Amazing!!!!!!!

I loved the fact it was like listening to an actual conversation between the MCs! You were able to be swept away by the story because of how well narrators were! It was amazing to listen to!
