The Power of Starting Something Stupid: How to Crush Fear, Make Dreams Happen, and Live without Regret

What if the smartest people in the world understand something that the rest of us don't? (They do.) What if they know that in order to achieve success, they will sometimes have to do things that others may initially perceive as stupid? The fact of the matter is that the smartest people in the world don't run from stupid, they lean into it (in a smart way). In The Power of Starting Something Stupid, Richie Norton redefines stupid as we know it, demonstrating that life-changing ideas are often tragically mislabeled stupid.

Such a great motivational story, full of great antidotes about how to reboot after a traumatic life event.

    "Inspiring!"
What did you love best about The Power of Starting Something Stupid?

Initially I was a little apprehensive about it because the title seems provocative and "buzzy", almost like it was just named something absurd so people would read it. But once I got into it I found that there are some deep insights and great research that went into writing it. It made me analyze my life and decide if I am where I want to be, or where life has placed me.

This book was a great listen. I like Richie's enthusiastic narration, but the book sells itself on content as well! Anyone stuck in a life they don't enjoy would benefit from this book.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Live to start, start to live.

What did you learn from The Power of Starting Something Stupid that you would use in your daily life?

Service can open more doors than I initially thought.

"The reader was annoying and took away from the story"

I am usually able to get past a reader whose voice or annunciations are like nails on a chalk board, but I found this reader SO irritating that I would ask for a refund if I could. Firstly, he sounds to be about 18 and his half-chuckle way of conveying the points was enough to make me want to vomit. When a reader says "impor'enh" instead of "important" I just cant take it seriously. He doesn't pronounce any of his T's if they fall within or at the end of a word. Like a high school teenager talking to his friends. Like Mar'in instead of Martin. His way-too-young sound was impossible to believe while listening to the story line. While this book may have had some very good ideas, It was impossible for me to stay interested because the subject matter was too mature for this boy's voice, annunciation and manner of reading. I wanted to like it, but I couldn't.

    "This book speaks to me!"
If you could sum up The Power of Starting Something Stupid in three words, what would they be?

    Inspiring, motivating, practical.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Power of Starting Something Stupid?

I love his personal story of taking tragedy and using it as motivation to do great things.

What does Richie Norton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His story told by his own voice and emotion couldn't be done justice by anyone else.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The whole book just spoke to me and is motivating to do something great!

Although this book is general since it applies to any stupid idea, it still offered concrete advice to get you going and get you thinking about how to make it happen. A great read!

"Not really what I was looking for"

I guess after reading the reviews I was expecting something else. I was looking for more of a living life book. This is more of a business book. It might be what you are looking for but not really for me.
