Publisher's summary

A broken woman.

A sociopathic killer.

An unlikely love story.

The house promises a kind master, but the monster in the dungeon wants her. And Brian breaks all his toys.

Mina Calloway always finds herself in the hands of the wrong master: Gentle at first, then brutally sadistic and abusive. She no longer believes it’s possible to find a man who will be gentle with her. After seeing a kink-friendly therapist for months, the doctor makes her an illicit offer she isn’t yet smart enough to refuse: “Let me find you a good master.”

Brian Sloan is a dangerous sociopath with a dark and brutal past. Only taking his sadistic urges out on the women at a submissive training house allows him to sleep through the night. When Brian sees Mina, she should be ripe for the picking, but her damage is too similar to his own. Can he fight past his demons to protect the one person he considers worth saving?

Note: This book happens in the same world as Guilty Pleasures with reoccurring settings and characters. However, it is not a direct sequel, and it isn’t necessary to have listened to Guilty Pleasures first. If you enjoy this book, you can continue Brian and Mina’s story in Brian and Mina’s Holiday Hits; The Easter Hunt is the first novella in this five-novella series continuing their story. They also make recurring cameos throughout the Pleasure House books.

Love the story, love the narration!

I loved this audiobook! The Pleasure House series is my favorite from Kitty Thomas!! After reading Kitty’s most recent novella, “The Easter Hunt,” it was great to go back and listen to the origin story. Brian has grown on me (I admit to disliking him when reading “Guilty Pleasures”). I loved the duet-style narration, it really brought the story to life!

I love Meg Sylvan!

I honestly saw Meg Sylvan’s name and I was sold.
Meg did such a great job with Stuck With You by Ali Hazelwood that I’m constantly looking for her narrations.

This is the first time I hear something written by Kitty Thomas, not bad at all. I’m a new fan!

The story is a pretty heavy, specially with the horrors most girl’s go through. It lives up to its dark romance.

Brain is insane, but I can’t hate him.
When I listen I kept telling myself “thank God,” this is fiction 😂
Because the things he did 😬 yet he had a soft spot for Mina.
Great job Kitty Thomas!

Narrators were great, I love duet narration.
Meg Sylvan can narrate the hell out of a book alone, but in this case I loved Troy Duran.

Kitty Thomas, please keep getting Meg and Troy to narrate your books!

Wow! I really loved this!!!!! ❤️

I wasn’t sure what I’d think about this as I went into it….but WOW! This was sooooo good! Hearing the story of Brian and Mina was everything!!!! This is dark and demented….. but oh so good!
Brian is a very sick guy and Mina is a very damaged woman. Together, they are magic. This isn’t a typical romance in any sense of the word but one I’m happy to know. He is a true monster to everyone but her. Your heart will pitter-patter.
Make sure you follow this book up with the first* of Brian and Mina’s Holiday Hits #1 — The Easter Hunt. It’s super HOT! 🔥 (Spoiler—Finally things go ALL the way with Mina and Brian 😉)
*At the time I wrote this review, only #1 of the Holiday Hits were available on Audible. If there are more, get those too! You know they are going to be smoking’ hot and wild!

This is worth a credit (and more!). The Easter Hunt is too.
With Troy Duran as Brian…..You KNOW it’s going to be amazing!!!! (And it is!)
BUY! BUY! BUY!!!!!

Perfect amount of dark

It's been awhile since I've read a dark book. Kitty Thomas has written some of my favorite dark romances. And this one did not disappoint. It's part of series, but it can be read as a stand alone. I think the love interest in this one is probably darker than the other men in the series. He's definitely an anti-hero, but I really liked him.

Broken Pieces!!!!

The narrator's Troy Duran and Meg Sylvan did an outstanding job. They brought this book to life. I really enjoyed Brian and Mina's story. You have to broken people that need each other to feel whole again. They are so broken and abused that they are not sure how to love. Brian wants to protect Mina from the beginning but also struggles with his growing feelings. Mina fears Brian but doesn't understand her change of feelings the longer she is with him. An unfortunate occurrence causes them to question everything and can the pieces get put back together again, stay broken or create something new? Only time will tell!! I absolutely loved it and I highly recommend listening to or reading Broken Dolls💕!

DARK, brutal and might just break you…

Amazing book!

I LOVE anti-hero characters who remain so throughout the book 😀

Brian Sloan is daaaark, scary with a really bad past and he punishes women in the house… in comes Mina Calloway who was looking for a good master but kept falling for the wrong masters… and she finds a therapist who tries to “help” her…

Brian and Mina’s worlds collide…

You just have to grab it… Its a part of Pleasure house series I heard (after I finished) so I didn’t read the preceding book and I didn’t see anything on audible but I can almost guarantee that he was the best of them in this world…

Troy Duran is excellent! Brought Brian to life… What can I say…
Meg Sylvan was good too, she new to me…

Worth a credit? YES! If you like dark daark 😁 if you don’t please skip it so you can avoid bad reviewing, you aren’t going to like it… let us who love dark romance get on…

Broken Dolls

Wow, Brian and Mina’s story is filled with so much emotions, broken trust and hard truths. I have to say that this couple share a history like no other in their own experiences. I do feel for Brian though, his pain is so deep it’s a wonder he is able to find solitude in Mina. I love how he truly sees Mina even though Lindsey has known her longer. As for Mina I truly feels for her, her previous relationships left her lost and broken. I must say as strange as it my be I love that she knows who Brian truly is. Although there is some confusion about his love for her, she finally accepts her faith and embraces her true self.

Broken Dolls

Broken Dolls is the second book in the Pleasure House Series. All of these stories in this series can be read as standalones. Although, I do recommend starting at the beginning with Guilty Pleasures.

I stayed up late to finish this book! I couldn't put it down until I finished reading Broken Dolls.
This is Brian Sloan’s and Mina Calloway’s story. Wow! What a story!!! Brian is a guy that I didn’t want to like. I found that my heart went out to him. Even though I didn’t consider him a doll and I know that Mina was considered a broken doll. Brian is broken too.

I considered Brian a monster. He actually loves Mina and tries to save her! Lord knows he spent a lot of money for Mina! I found myself loving Broken Dolls!!! Another 5 star book!!! I am looking forward to reading Surrender next. It’s Gabe’s story!

addendum: 5/12/22

Broken Dolls audible. The narrators are Troy Duran and Meg Sylvan. I had previously read this book and now I got to listen to the audible book!

I am usually not the person that reads a book more than once. Even the books that I love. But, when an opportunity came up for an audible review I took it! Besides, I loved reading Broken Dolls the first time.

I usually listen to most of my books with my Kindle text to speech feature on my Kindle. So it is a treat to get to listen to Broken Dolls on audible.

These 2 narrators really made this book even better. They were perfect for the narration of this book. The 2 of them brought the book to life for me. I hope that this author will continue to have Troy Duran and Meg Sylvan narrate the rest of this series!

Loved it all over again!!

I have previously read this book and loved every second of it. Once the audio was to be released I knew I would have to listen to the story to get this unique perspective. The story was just beautiful. Our poor girl Mina has been through quite some bad relationships especially with her very abusive ex Jason. She’s almost given up on dominant and submissive relationships when she’s given one last very different opportunity that is said to be able to guarantee her safety away from another abusive man. Will this opportunity pan out, or will Mina end up in another bad situation with a permanently unhappily ever after?? You’ll find out when you read it!!
The narrators are two that I really like. Meg Sylvan is able to give a “normal” girl sounding voice, like she did in “The Proposal” that isn’t super breathy and unrealistic like some romance novel narrators have. Troy Duran gives the male perspective and is great at changing his voice to match a characters personality, especially when there are multiple men in a book. Like he was able to do in “The Berserker”
