Nice Rollercoaster Ride

I very much enjoyed Winslow’s set of novellas. His well-honed sense of detail brings each of his stories to life and anoints them with a realism not often found in thrillers of this kind. He knows his material and makes the reader feel that he knows his characters and their lives, loves and dangers. And their streets, weapons and the waves they ride. And it was good to see the Dawn Patrol again.

The set of stories is uneven with some much stronger than others as should be expected. But the strong ones are very strong and the weaker ones still very readable.

All in all a welcome release in these strange times. He introduces us to men and women who face much harder decisions than what to cook and what to binge watch on Netflix. Thanks Mr. Winslow.

Great stories and narration. It's like listening to Don before Border. Finished in two days.

Wow this guy is like Hemingway

Great short stories for people who don't like short stories. Winslow has a style that is soulful, artfully textured and delivered with a reverence for economy of language similar to Hemingway's work. Not being hyperbolic in my praise or with the association to Ernest.

Great stories/ very enjoyable.

Very well done by narrators and have enjoyed Winslow’s other works! Hope too enjoy more soon!

Five stars !

A great collection of 6 novellas by one of my favorite authors. Trigger warning, there is some not-so-subtle political commentary woven into several of the stories (especially The Last Ride). I loved the appearance of many of Mr. Winslow's characters from previous books showed up in these stories. Ray Porter's narration was fantastic; he rates 5+ stars. Theother narrator was fine, but I wish Ray Porter had read the entire collection. If you are a Winslow fan, this is a must read.

Wonderful story, great writing, and outstanding reading. You won’t go wrong with this book. Don Winslow is one of my favorite crime writers.

Solid, Exciting

It's almost hard to believe Winslow can be so consistently good, book after book, but here it is.Tight, compelling crime fiction. Griffith and Porter do a great job too. Highly recommended.

Good But Not Winslow’s Best

Set an interesting but some rather flat stories. Winslow is a great writer and I am a big fan, enjoyed listening but not his best

Six great stories

I really enjoyed all the short stories. A very nice mixture. You will enjoy the mix of characters.
