Publisher's summary

A mysterious red sports car. A bloodied animal corpse. He’s caught the scent of a brutal crime, and he won’t stop until it’s solved....

DCI Harry Grimm is weary of humanity’s evil. Dragged to the middle of nowhere during the darkest of hours, he’s enraged by grisly evidence of a horrific illegal dog fight. And when the mutilated remains turn out to be a gamekeeper’s stolen pet, the gritty detective senses he has a solid lead after learning of a long-running feud.

Immediately putting his team on the case, Grimm worries the stakes may be escalating when the animal’s owner is beaten and left for dead. And though the tough investigator puts his nose to the ground and follows the bloody clues, he fears there’s only one shot to apprehend the real monster.

Can he bring a loathsome criminal to justice before the savagery turns deadly?

Blood Sport is the riveting seventh book in the DCI Harry Grimm Crime Thrillers series. If you like tightly woven plots, tenacious cops, and noir-style action, then you’ll love David J. Gatward’s nail-biting tale.

Seemed like a quick listen…

Still, I do enjoy Harry and team! Really interesting this time around, with the idea of the story. At least Harry got a dog out of it ( and a girlfriend! Nicely done!). Look forward to the next- perhaps an appearance from a certain Scottish DCI? Hmmm…

❤️

Lovable group of characters. Harry is the leader and star of the group. Never dull, always a new adventure. His strong, quite, style makes for a great read.

Still enjoying the characters.

I'm still enjoying the characters and their development. The stories are interesting and varied but I just get so annoyed with the narrator reading the wrong words. It's not just the little things like bought instead of brought but 1 of the characters had a complete name change. I like his voice and accents but I am used to a higher level of accuracy that other narrator's bring. I'm looking forward to the next book but might just avoid the audiobook.

another enjoyable story in the series

the author is doing a better and better job and developing different characters why still weaving and interesting plot and premise of good versus evil something new to consider that you don't always see in mystery stories an original plot line... the narrator does a good job but it's very difficult to differentiate the different voices for all the characters

A puppy and a date! What a relief!

David Gatward’s writing is exquisite, every sense is engaged in a way that makes me feel like I am there. The narrator is excellent, managing to subtly alter his pitch and tone, switching smoothly from one accent to another, rate and rhythm fitting

So good

I love this series – characters, setting, plot and the superb performance, but I was very very about the topic being an unabashed animal/dog lover. Please know that the topic is handled very sensitively and it’s not exploited in anyway. Another excellent book highly recommended.

Great read

I love the characters and Grimm is fantastic!! Great book! I’ve enjoyed them all so far and I’m about to purchase the nest in line. The reader is also excellent! He really brings the story to life!

A crack in the armor

These novels get better and better as the characters evolve under DCI Harry Grimm's leadership. Through a widening crack in the armor readers begin to see the tough Para and cop has a warm human side, a point he'd argue earnestly.
