Publisher's summary

Dacen Becker: New guy in town. Wants to finish high school as peacefully as possible. No angst, no drama, play soccer, make some new friends.

As one of the only hipster-clothes-wearing, luxury-vehicle-driving teenagers in a sea of plaid, camouflage, and loud souped up trucks, he unfortunately sticks out like a sore thumb at Knoxton Falls High School.

Lucky for him, he’s a handsome, fun-loving guy with a heart of gold that everyone warms up to quickly. Well, almost everyone...but Dacen’s not one to back down from a challenge.

And when that challenge comes in the form of one hot boy with the body of a god and the lips of a sinner? That drama-free senior year goes up in a pouf of smoke before it even begins.

Ryne Sutton: Grouchy. Aloof. Sexy but kind of a jerk. These are the words most people would use to describe him. And that’s the way he’d like to keep it.

He’s spent nearly half his life keeping his shields up, and has no plans of removing them now. His priority is a kick-ass soccer season and preparing for a future in the sport.

Then the new guy crosses his path at tryouts and repeatedly afterwards. He doesn’t like him, wants nothing to do with him, yet can’t help watching for Becker around every corner.

Even if it’s just to give him a few verbal punches and scorching glares, Ryne’s empty shell of a heart flickers whenever he’s near.

My Favorite MM Coming of Age Romance Story - EVER!

For some reason, this story by Michaella Cole was so captivating; it grabbed me from the opening credits and held my interest more than any other MM story I have listened to from Audible (a considerable amount of titles) until the final words were spoken. I found the story to be so well composed and the plot so well thought out and believable that I went from tears to laughter in just minutes several times throughout the story. I don't want to give the story away, but between Jason and Ryne, the dynamics were so real that my heart was always engaged. Ryne's character was especially well developed and made for a fascinating thread throughout the story. 5 Stars, and six if I could give them. A fantastic start to the "Knoxton Knights" Series, for which I can hardly wait for the next chapter.

Absolutely Incredible Sports MM Romance!

I absolutely loved this audiobook! It pulls at your heartstrings and us an incredible book. I am in love. I am in love with the story, I am in love with the characters, Ryne and Dacen and their incredible friends. I am in love with Michaela Cole. She captures your heart by the first couple pages! This audiobook gave me all the feels.

I absolutely love loved Jacob Nichols narration! You don’t get confused as to who is peaking. He is funny and his voice is deep and beautiful. His voice also fits the age appropriate that the characters are. This might sound like a silly detail to mention, but I feel like I heard the story played out perfectly in my head and knew who was talking when and what was going on. I loved Jacob’s voice, it was deep but you could feel the characters emotions as he read to you.

The journey that both Ryne and Dacen take you on in this story is fun. Figuring out who they separately are but also who they are together was so entertaining. On top of loving Ryne and Dacen (coolest names), I absolutely loved the extended cast of characters. I can’t wait for each of their audiobooks. They will be so good! Michaela Cole’s writing is perfect. It has you laughing at their funny banter back and forth one minute. Then the next sobbing trough their pain. But no matter what she gives you an ending that will have you smiling from ear to ear!

So much to like here

About Last Knight is this author’s debut novel, and it’s clear she has a ton of talent. What this book desperately needed was editing. It’s at least a third too long, and parts of the first half are so draggy — and ultimately so irrelevant — that it’s hard to understand why they’re included in the story. If all the useless scenes with Dacen’s parents and bff / friends / Ms Opal were necessary in the first half, why did they all basically disappear for the last third of the novel? What was the point of the soccer camp flashbacks? What was even the point of including soccer? The characters certainly didn’t seem to care about the sport. What became of the speech class assignment? And the wedding in NY? So many questions.

With tightening and editing (gosh, the word choice; there has to be another word for “wicked”), this book could have been quite compelling. As it is, it’s a solid three stars. I bumped the overall rating up one star because the narration is A+.

It was a cute and annoying love story

I really liked it, a good voice actor. The sound could have been better, the static sound in the background was annoying at times.

I normally read dark romance and this was a great change of pace. I really enjoyed the book and audio book. Jacob Nichols did a great job

Give it a min, it gets good!

After reading the reviews I thought I would give it a shot. It did take me a while to get through the some of the chapters but then it picked up and I couldn’t stop listening.
