Publisher's summary

He collected beautiful things. Rare things. Ripped them out of their natural environment and preserved them in all of their dead splendor.

The problem was I wasn't beautiful. I was all of the hideous and ugly realities of the world packaged into one broken human being.

He came to kill me. That was his business. Death.

He ripped me out of my natural environment, the prison I'd created, and locked me away with all of his beautiful dead things. I hated him. I still hate him.

But if I was given the choice and the ability to leave this cage, come back to life - I'd stay dead. In all of my hideous splendor.

Because my murderer can only possess dead things. And I can only be possessed by someone more broken and ugly than me.

perfectly different

I think this will be one of my favorite books. It's so different than your average romance book. I would love another book.

3 1/2 STARS

Forced marriage 💍
Agoraphobic heroine
Abusive relationship 💔
Unaliver

Hero/anti-hero is a k!ller for hire and collector of sorts. He’s sent to do a job but the heroine isn’t what he expected. He takes the heroine away from her safety and forces her to start living. I found it a bit repetitive and I didn’t feel the connection between the two MCs. I did like how he would k!ll anyone who would harm her and made her stronger even though his methods were questionable.

Dual Narration 4 ⭐️

Wow!

This was a great story and great audible. The female lead is Elizabeth. She has been beaten down mentally and physically by her family and husband for many years. To a point where is ready to give up and die. And when the killer comes, Oliver/Luthian, she is ready. This is unusual for him because she doesnt beg for her life...she is ready and this shocks him, intrigues him and eventually, they fall in love. This story was deep, passionate and dark. When they first confessed their love for each other - OMG is was very dark, but so passionate. I love this book and now I am a fan of this author. The narrators - GREAT JOB. Loved them both. I hope there will be a part two involving the siblings. Can't wait.

Narrators carried the story.

The storyline had great potential, but then it froze. With the help of great narrators it did keep me intrigued enough to finish it. if you are looking for a psychological thriller this isn't for you. This is more of a dark romance with hints of psycho/mystery.

Full of possible triggers for some, so be cautious before reading/listening.

What did I just listen too???

This one is darker than dark. It was hard for me to conjure in my mind what the characters were actually saying because everything for the most part goes against “norms”. They spoke a language that was so foreign in concept it was difficult to follow.
Lots of blood play, constant talk about death. The MMC was really next level freaky and I’m not just talking about in the sheets, which by the way the sex was hot but mostly rough and dangerous to a certain extent.
Narrators were amazing and really carried this story. I would have definitely DNF this one if it wasn’t for them.

I thought it sounds like a good book.

I thought it sounded like a good book. no where did I see it was an erotic fantasy with vivid sexual descriptions. not my kind of book. must be kin to 50 shades of gray. fine but warn a person first!
