Story
In 2015, the historian Chris Momany helped discover a manuscript that had been forgotten in a storage closet at Adrian College in Michigan. He identified it as the journal of a nineteenth-century Christian abolitionist and missionary, David Ingraham. As Momany and a fellow historian Doug Strong pored over the diary, they realized that studying this document could open new conversations for twenty-first-century Christians to address the reality of racism today. They invited a multiracial team of fourteen scholars to join in, thus launching the Dialogue on Race and Faith Project.

Story
From mid-August to mid-September 1863, Union major general William S. Rosecrans's Army of the Cumberland maneuvered from Tennessee to north Georgia in a bid to rout Confederate general Braxton Bragg's Army of Tennessee and blaze the way for further Union advances. Meanwhile, Confederate reinforcements bolstered the numbers of the Army of Tennessee, and by the time the two armies met at the Battle of Chickamauga, in northern Georgia, the Confederates had gained numerical superiority.

Story
A Guided Tour of the Digitized Battlefield "You are tomorrow's soldier. You will play your part in the next major war America will wage." From these opening lines of Tomorrow's Soldier, David Alexander's excellent book on 21st century warfare, the author builds on this theme in a series of eight carefully researched and well-written chapters on combat in the combined arms battlespace of near-future conflicts. Sometimes in clear and concise descriptions of complex weapons systems such as stealth aircraft, main battle tanks and nuclear submarines, at other times in fast-paced narrative that ...

A shy young man leaves his home in rural Turkey to learn a trade in 1920s Berlin. The city's crowded streets, thriving arts scene, passionate politics and seedy cabarets provide the backdrop for a chance meeting with a woman, which will haunt him for the rest of his life. Story
Iran is bracing for war and poised to make an armed grab for regional hegemony. Its leadership in Tehran is preparing to play a secret military trump card. Long in preparation, Iran's nuclear warfare program has yielded an array of weapons of mass destruction and delivery systems to drop nukes onto targets in the Middle East and as far away as the continental reaches of the United States. Shock and awe air strikes have so far failed to destroy Iran's hardened weapons development facilities, its protected missile launch sites, or its bomb-proof and hard-to-find aircraft hangars. Iran's vast ...

Story
Machine Breakers is the story of the notorious Luddite Rages Crusoe, "as told in his own words." It takes place at the turn of the 20th century, but history has gone berserk and the era is not the prewar world as we know it. Instead it is a strange, dark, post-Orwellian world in which an almost 21st century technology is linked to a social organization that exemplifies the worst of the abuses of the 19th century's Industrial Revolution, and in which the teeming masses of Europe and America spend most of their lives slaving in mega-factories. At the top of the social pyramid is a relative ...
