While Friedrich Nietzsche stated that Christ was the last Christian, according to Osho, Jesus was not only the last Christian, but he was also the first Christian–the first and the last Christian, because in this world no individual is ever repeated.

Every morning when you wake up, you become aware and your dreams disappear. You can do the same thing with the endless dreaming of your mind - the dreams that nourish your ego. This capacity to be aware, to witness, is already yours. It is nourished by celebration. Celebration helps you become more sensitive and more alert to life. Don't invest in misery, invest in celebration.

Osho addresses and beautifully explains a common issue - the need for attention - that is taking so many eccentric shapes and forms in today’s global media-mania-dominated world. The need for attention is a human reality, and almost everybody is a beggar for attention. The root cause of why one seeks attention is because one does not know oneself. Attention is nourishment for your personality - which is not your real being but just a fake "persona" created by society. Your real power is in your individuality, which you have to discover.

Osho responds to questions and speaks about psychological concepts as presented by Freud, Jung, Adler and Assagioli and others, comparing their theories with the Eastern practice of meditation. While psychologist and physicians approach the body and the mind separately as illness, Osho exams the wider human condition and the underlying issue which he calls a "spiritual illness". He points out that every individual longs for freedom and is surrounded by restrictive systems that deny this fundamental right.

The message of Tantra endorses Osho's understanding that only through total acceptance of ourselves can we grow. Osho speaks on Tantra meditation techniques (let go and surrender), and tantric love and spirituality in sex. Here the Tantra message - don't live a repressed life, otherwise you don't live at all - is made accessible and understandable to modern man, who will learn to live a life of expression, creativity, and joy.

Communication as such is difficult. Of course, it is more difficult between lovers. But first you have to understand the general difficulty of communication. Each mind has been conditioned by different parents, different teachers, different priests, and different politicians. It is a different world in itself. And when two minds try to communicate, as far as the ordinary mundane things are concerned, there is no difficulty. But the moment they start moving beyond things into the world of concepts, communication starts becoming more and more difficult.

In Osho’s understanding Zen is the approach to religion that has not put fetters on mankind. These four talks pay homage to Zen’s reverence for life and its celebration of the everyday. The child needs your love, not your help. The child needs nourishment, support, but not your help. Every way to help a child is wrong. The very idea of helping is not right. The natural potential of the child is unknown, so there is no way to help him rightly to attain to his natural potential. You cannot help when the goal is unknown; all that you can do is not interfere. And in fact, in the name of help everybody is interfering with everybody else; and because the name is beautiful, nobody objects.

Osho illuminates the Chinese Zen master Hyakujo’s concept of sudden enlightenment, showing that everyone is already a buddha. No master, he says, can give you anything; he can only take your false beliefs away.

Based in a deep understanding Osho responds to a very personal question related to issues of suicide. "In this neurotic world, if you are sane, sensitive, intelligent, either you have to go mad, or you have to commit suicide – or you have to become a meditator, a seeker." With modern media, there is an impression that this world is becoming more chaotic than ever before. However, according to Osho’s understanding, the world has not changed but remains the same: upside down, crazy, insane. The fact that in the last 3,000 years humanity has fought 5,000 wars is evidence enough but what has changed is an awareness that we are crazy, that something is basically wrong with humanity.

We all feel sometimes like a stranger to ourselves, with uncomfortable feelings of having lost direction in life, feeling insecure and missing a kind of authenticity and centeredness in life. In a society where ideals of eternal happiness and beauty are dominating our life around the clock and being sad looks like failure.

Being loose and natural will give you a spontaneous awareness, rather than making an effort to reach a certain goal. No effort is going to succeed because the cause of all misery is the doer, the ego, our idea of self. Osho only teaches awareness. Suppression is not the way to buddhahood. Simply relax and be whatsoever you are - and awareness will come by itself.
