First published in 1936, The Shadow Out of Time by H. P. Lovecraft appeared in the June issue of Astounding Stories. It weaves a tale of an extraterrestrial species called the Great Race of Yith that can travel through space and time and take over the bodies of other species. Nathaniel Wingate Peaslee, an American living in the first decade of the 20th century fears he may have been possessed by the Yith. He sees strange vistas of other worlds and fears he is going insane. While on an expedition to prove the existence of this race, he makes an astounding discovery.

The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath is a novella by American writer H. P. Lovecraft. The Shadow over Innsmouth is a horror novella by American author H. P. Lovecraft, written in November–December 1931. It forms part of the Cthulhu Mythos, using its motif of a malign undersea civilization, and references several shared elements of the Mythos, including place-names, mythical creatures, and invocations. The Shadow over Innsmouth is the only Lovecraft story that was published in book form during his lifetime. The narrator is a student conducting an antiquarian tour of New England.

In 1923, an American named Delapore, the last descendant of the De la Poer family, moves to his ancestral estate in England following the death of his only son during World War I. In this series we listen to short stories that are NOT by perhaps the most well-known author of this type. But the many other rich talents in the volume may have treated the subject matter a little differently, or were perhaps just overlooked in the stampede to applaud the winner, but these authors are of equal merit.

The Whisperer in Darkness is a 26,000-word novella by American writer H. P. Lovecraft. Written February–September 1930, it was first published in Weird Tales, August 1931.[1] Similar to The Colour Out of Space (1927), it is a blend of horror and science fiction. Although it makes numerous references to the Cthulhu Mythos, the story is not a central part of the mythos, but reflects a shift in Lovecraft's writing at this time towards science fiction. The story also introduces the Mi-Go, an extraterrestrial race of fungoid creatures.
