I feel bad for Sophie's family, it must be awful to have your mother brutally murdered and never have resolution. Ian is a dick. I am moving on.

Skip the Last Episode

The last episode is an exercise in futility. No new information pertaining to the case is offered. The creators won't even answer yes or no to simple questions put forth by some of the listeners. Listening to the last episode made me so mad it all but ruined the experience for me.

Captivating! Thought provoking. Thorough investigative reporting. Excellent narration. Loved all the accents. The story took me to a place far, far, away. As I listened, I began to get a sense of surrealism... such a heinous brutal unbelievable crime with no solid answers. At times, it was unbearable listening to the vagueness of a key witness and the key suspect.

Wow! This was really well done, one of the best Audible podcasts I’ve heard. Excellent use of sound and description to help the listener picture the locale. As the series went on, I went back and forth in my view of whether Ian was guilty or the Guards had tunnel-vision and didn’t fully consider other suspects. If he’s innocent, it’s a tragedy on top of tragedy that his life has been consumed with the accusations.
It’s a story that’s impossible to listen to without having so many “if only” thoughts — if only it wasn’t a holiday and crime scene experts and the medical examiner were there sooner; if only witnesses hadn’t lied; if only Sophie hadn’t been alone that night. But mostly I felt such sadness and empathy for Sophie’s family. Will they ever really know the truth? She sounds like an extraordinary person and this long ordeal must have brought unimaginable pain to her family. I was glad to hear her son’s voice talking about spending time in the vacation home his mother loved... I envision her watching over her son and grandchildren there. Thank you for this thoughtful and thoughtful-provoking series.
