Not understanding All The Hype

Honestly thought the book was just average. There are so many others, like The Nightingale and The Book Thief, that are far better! Although the story takes place during World War II, the author hardly writes about its climate. It's basically a story about the circus. Hands down, Water For Elephants, which uses the circus as a backdrop, is the one to read if you're wanting the circus setting. Also, did not find the story to be that heart warming. As for the narration, I almost passed over this book after listening to the sample, because the person seemed to be reading as opposed to performing the part of Noah. Maybe it's only me and I am missing something here, but don't waste your time.

Touching story with some twists

I enjoyed the performance and the plot. If you like WE2 stories with some romance and a good plot this is for you! Well written I liked the two views of the same story. I laughed and cried with the book.

emotional story

i loved it. it was an emotional story that I didnt want to put down.

Just okay!

I struggled to finish this book. The book was very predictable and the narration was irritating. The narrators voice for the male characters made them appear to be stupid. I felt that I wasted a credit.

another WWII story, but somewhat interesting

I took a long time to listen to this whole book, so it seemed to drag for me. But that was probably mostly my fault. It was a good story of seeing women who had to face incredible obstacles, so even in that level, it was inspiring. It had some poignant ideas about motherhood. It was more interesting than some world war II books for me because it was a different setting and it kept moving around. However, I get somewhat tired of the abundance of WWII books, except this one was overall pretty good.

Enjoyable Listen

After reading some of the previous reviews I was concerned the story would be too love storyish. The author balanced the trials and romantic aspects of the story very well. The characters were interesting and the story felt like a true tale.

Surviving Nazi Germany at it's best

Instincts, bravery, and ultimately love paint the tapestry to a wonderful story guaranteed to have you wanting more.

A good character-driven story

I enjoyed the characters and their deep struggles to survive in terrible times. The story is of two women who have a love/hate sisterly-like relationship that shows how much humans do need to rely on one another for survival. I could not give it 5 stars because it was a little drawn out and long in some parts. But I'm glad I stuck with it. A good read.

AMAZING story. Easy to follow, but has a lot of backnone and substance. Well done!!
