Story
His hands knew how to fight. His fingers knew the ways of war. Gunny, Griz, and the crew have one more mission south of the border, the Traveler is looking to right some wrongs, and Jessie is trapped in a faraway place. The undead hordes are as vicious as ever, and a simple rescue mission gets real complicated real quick. This is the final two-fisted, gas-guzzling, gear-grinding thrill ride of the Zombie Road saga. More tales to come, but this concludes the story that started with the Convoy of Carnage.

The bears were hungry and the panther was pacing her cage. It was supposed to be a fun field trip to the wild animal safari. It became a nightmare of blood. The zombie virus spread like wildfire and by noon, they were alone. Safe inside the fences, a group of school kids are the only survivors. Like the animals, they’ve lived their whole lives being cared for and fed, pampered, and loved. Now, they have to learn from each other how to survive, how to hunt, and how to kill.

Story
Army veteran Lee Riker is staying in an Atlanta shelter and supporting himself with the odd carpentry job when his sister, Tara, summons him home to Indiana for the reading of their mother’s will. Riker boards a Greyhound bus in Atlanta with his duffel bag, less than $200 to his name, and a secret he must protect at all costs. Riker makes it to Middletown only to learn his sister has recently witnessed a gruesome death. Insisting she saw the victim rise from a pool of his own blood to attack the Samaritan rendering aid, Tara floats the idea that the man may have been a zombie.

It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

Whether the virus was naturally occurring or an escaped lab experiment, Cade hadn't a clue and wasn't especially concerned until he learned of its unprecedented virulence, unusual method of transference, and the fact that, according to the news, it brought the newly dead back to life, semi-mindless, and with an insatiable desire to feed on the flesh of the living.

Publisher's Summary
The sands of time never fall the same way twice. Jessie thought he’d lost it all, but what if there was a chance to save Scarlet, however slim? There is a time machine in the subterranean levels of the tower. The only problem is that it kills everyone who tries to use it. If he could figure out how to activate it without being turned into a mass of quivering flesh, he could go back. He could fix things.
Deep in the zombie-infested wastelands, hidden in a military base inside area 51, is the operator's manual. Going after it is suicide, but it’s also the only shot he’s got. If he can find it and survive the jump, he might be able to save her life. He might be able to prevent the outbreak. He might even be able to save the world.
If you’re looking for a hair-raising thrill ride through hell itself, then look no further. Full of blood, guts, and carnage, this post-apocalyptic series will keep you on the edge until the very end.
Get ready for tragedies in time.

starting to lose me at this point. now that the time travel door is open this can only play out in a long convoluted story about paradoxes and how to avoid them. This did start off about zombies, right?

I'll be honest, the end of the last book had me lost, in fact time travel in general confuses me BUT I really enjoyed this book. I'm not saying I understood all of it, that will take a reread for sure. I'm so looking forward to the next book, at this point the story can go on for who knows how long!

It's about Time
In the latest installment of Zombie Road series, the Road Angel finds himself on a mission in an attempt to save Scarlett before she dies. Inside the Tower and in Horowitz's hands is a machine that could well decide the past and present of all mankind. Jessie has learned how to use the Time machine and Horowitz wants that information at any cost. Each has their own agenda; Jessie just wants to save Scarlett before she is killed while Horowitz wants to be a God.
Each has his own mission but what neither understands is that Time is anything but fluid. Any disruption in the stream will lead to dire consequences. With each believing they can jump back and forth while achieving their goal, Time will teach them just how wrong they both are.
Easily one of the best installments of the series and am really looking forward to the next, hopefully not final chapter. Sit back and enjoy the ride, this is one that is very hard to either put down, if you're reading the book, or turn off if you, like me, are listening to it. As usual Eric Shelman, one of my favorite authors, does an excellent job narrating.

Amazing twist.
I am a huge fan of post apocalyptic zombie books. I have listened to all of David’s books and enjoyed his take on things. What I was not prepared for was time travel. Some of my favorite books are about time travel I have to say this was one hell of a ride. I don’t believe in spoilers but let me say that David has moved into another league with this one. The science is sound without being boring, all of our favorite characters from past books are included. I can’t wait for the next book to make it to audible. If you follow the author you know he has a spinoff series called Feral Children book one is out and book two is in process. Thanks for the ride.

Great writing! Added some interesting new lines
Out of the gate, I love Eric A Shelman's narration. He always adds something special to an "audible" book. And he brings this book to life with the same recognizable characters.
I tend to get confused with heavy sci fi content, but David kept this to where I could basically follow along. (as long as there's no pop quiz) I loved it, and can't wait for the next one. The time travel really added an element that's fresh, new, and exciting. I want to understand what's going on more with the "other" Jessie and Scarlett. Who are they? how did they get there? Basically the same questions Jessie has. Ha.
Basically, just loved it! As always!

Nowhere near as good as the rest of the series.
Somewhat disappointing to be honest.
It is a far cry from the fantastic first three books.
This one just goes off the deep end regarding the story.
So far removed from the series, that it may as well be a stand alone book.
Unfortunate.
Narration was as good as always, given the material was poor in he first place.
