Story
The beautiful saga about surviving the zombie apocalypse that David Simpson created continues. This book focuses on the relationship between Jessie, the disfigured road angel, and Scarlet, the daughter of the high priest of the Anubis cult. They are both damaged and young and have to bear a heavy burden for their age. Both have powers beyond human capacity. Both are the children and heirs to their fathers' legacies and empires, and they should be mortal enemies, not working together. They should be trying to kill each other, not trying to save what's left of the world.

Story
The finale of the Zombie Road tale. It's been a month since the outbreak, and the survivors of the zombie apocalypse have started a new life in a walled city. There are still a few enemies that need to be dealt with, the kind that can think and plan, and they can be more devastating than a horde of the undead.

Time is running out for the star crossed lovers, the teenagers thrown together by fate who were supposed to be trying to kill each other. The undead infection is spreading in Scarlet, slowly worming its way through her body. As they race across the wastelands to the last outpost with advanced medical facilities, their fathers go to war. The cult begins its advance on the free states headquarters and Casey's ruthless cannibals are gathering their forces for their own attack. No one gets to sit this one out. Everyone fights.

The people that tried to kill the world almost succeeded. They were fiendishly clever but they didn't take into account the vets, the truckers, and the two-fisted fighters who didn't know how to give up. Gunny and his band of survivors continue their journey along the Zombie Road, saving as many as they can along the way. They power through the undead hordes with their modified semi-trucks to beat the ticking clock of nuclear meltdowns.

The sands of time never fall the same way twice. Jessie thought he’d lost it all, but what if there was a chance to save Scarlet, however slim? There is a time machine in the subterranean levels of the tower. The only problem is that it kills everyone who tries to use it. If he could figure out how to activate it without being turned into a mass of quivering flesh, he could go back. He could fix things.

The bears were hungry and the panther was pacing her cage. It was supposed to be a fun field trip to the wild animal safari. It became a nightmare of blood. The zombie virus spread like wildfire and by noon, they were alone. Safe inside the fences, a group of school kids are the only survivors. Like the animals, they’ve lived their whole lives being cared for and fed, pampered, and loved. Now, they have to learn from each other how to survive, how to hunt, and how to kill.

As the first waves of injured bystanders, guardsmen, and rioters arrived at hospitals, it became apparent that a deadly new disease had been unleashed on the population. Whether the virus was naturally occurring or an escaped lab experiment, Cade hadn't a clue and wasn't especially concerned until he learned of its unprecedented virulence, unusual method of transference, and the fact that, according to the news, it brought the newly dead back to life, semi-mindless, and with an insatiable desire to feed on the flesh of the living.

The narrator.. well I honestly think this narrator makes a great book a fantastic book. He brings all the characters to life and makes you believe you are in it with them. Thank You David Simpson for another great book and yes I'm waiting for the next in the series.

Run Gunny Run. Go Jessie Go.
I am in love with this amazing series. Zombie Rd is now one of my favorite two zombie series. The other is The Undead by RR Haywood. In ZR my favorite characters are Gunny and his son Jessie. The first three books focused more on Gunny, but the fourth has Jessie more of a focus. Jessie is only a teenager but he is super enhanced and super tough. He has a side kick German Shepard named Bob. They are riding around the country finding other settlements and setting up trade between those settlements and Gunny/Jessie's home town, Lacoda. They run into good people and really bad actors. Jessie tries his luck with females, but so far he is not doing so well, mainly because he is so insecure about his scarred face and he thinks the girls do not really like him and are repulsed by him - which is not really the case. Gunny is on the trail of Casey the Cannibal who has strengthened his gang into hundreds with the help of bad Lucinda. Madame President is ingratiating herself with Lucinda after escaping the worst of Casey's wrath. Casey, Lucinda and madame President are EVIL and I am looking forward to their demise. Right now, however, they are alive and chasing Gunny and his cohorts through the desolate countryside on the way to Lacoda. Another group of bad actors, led by a man who thinks he is an Eqyptian God, is also headed toward Lacoda. They have developed drugs that make them super human and allows them to mingle with the zombies without harm. I imagine the next book with feature another major battle for Lacoda waged by one or both of the two bad groups. David Simpson is a master storyteller and keeps the action and suspense going along with respites of humor and goodness. He has created a cast of remarkable characters. Some are so likable, such as Gunny, Jessie, Cobb, Lars, Stabby, Bridgitte, Scratch, etc. Others, such as the ones I mentioned above, are delightfully evil and I enjoy despising them. Simpson's dialog is extraordinarily good and his action scenes are amazing. I am truly stirred up when Jessie goes into kill mode. He is awesome. The narrator is icing on the cake. Shelman is an extremely talented performer and breathes life into the characters with his accents and his acting abilities. I can't wait for book five where the saga will continue. Please Mr. Simpson, don't let anything bad happen to the good guys. It would be too much for me to handle!!!

Burning a house full of cats
Loved the first three books this one was looking to be another great one then it got to the bit were Jessie goes into a house for some poptarts and finds a group of main coon cats Which he decides to find some food in the house for to feed them he then gets attacked by one of them when he tries to stroke it and is then attacked by all of them he along with his dog kill a bunch of them while escaping the house which is kinda fair enough it's kill or be killed at that point and the cats are very likely feral or at least hate everything human shaped because of the zombies but when he and the dog get out of the house and there's two cats out there with them (the rest have stayed in the house) one of which is on a shed roof hissing at them and the other is injured and limping back to the house instead of just leaving the place and the cats alone and continuing on with his journey he then shoots the cat or the shed roof, let's the dog kill the one limping back to the house, then fires a bunch of bullets into the house, closes the back door, blocks up the cat flap, splashes the house with petrol and sets fire to the place or at least that's what I guess happened as I skipped forward two minutes when it got to the splashing the house with petrol bit it didn't take a genius to figure out Jessie's next action I did consider stopping listening entirely but I paid money for this. Rant over

Great book
Love the series! Hate the fact it ended where it did and so quick. Gunny should definitely be the focus. Jesse is becoming whiny. Love the fact you call the suggestions from fans gross when so much in the book made my stomach turn! Would prefer zombie jerky to children being flayed and their faces worn. The writing was great and the characters surprisingly realistic. Can’t wait for the next book!
