First book was preachy, The second book was strong and I was happy with it until it got to that one point. All who have read it know the point I was talking about which brought a decent story with character development to another sermon from BLM to All Lives matter in less than a page. I am a huge fan of zombie books/movies/comics/cartoons along with end of the world. My very first taste that had me hooked was Vampire D. I believe there is a place for Vampires and Zombies like B but to link it to killing a zombie is like kill someone of a different race has me... There is a difference when I go camping and hiking between willing to protect my self by caring a whistle and being careful because of bears and others carrying a gun to go hunting for because they are dangerous . I am a prey for a bear. If one attacks, I might protect my self with my ax. (flame thrower or spear in the book) BUT I would not go and hunt them down ( I have come across a few of them). They are either protecting their young or hungry because of... HOWEVER, a zombie is mostly mindless and only wants to feed its hunger. It does not care about protecting and instead wants to spread the disease to spread to others while feeding. If a bear bit me, and I became a bear, I may think twice. SO the idea of..... seriously. It is not an us versus them mentality regarding races that just want to live in peace. It is an us versus a volcano. (volcano is not the right metaphor but the idea is that it does not care about anything but feeding) I could not kill a snake, spider, bear, or anything else that is trying to live unless it living would causes massive distinction and destruction. (big horror fan) B and her kind are like Vampire D, Darren Shan, or the hero in the book Cold Winter that are fighting against human kind being wiped out. I do not need the zombie to be compared to other races. The author touched on this idea in his vampire books, which were decent. He touched on the idea of feeding on humans and how Darren Shan fought it but understood he needed blood for food. To start comparing zombies to ... Tyler, you begin to forget that they are mostly mindless killing machines that only care about eating. Had you established your zombies differently like you did your vampires, then you would feel less preachy and have a better story. I want to read the others in this series, but I am afraid it will only get worse.

(Side note, I am cursed with empathy. I try to be a superhero. I believe that what we call villains are sometimes heros ans sometimes misguided that see thing differently. Vampire D, Darren Shan, and others are not villains just because they are different. B has all the makings of a Hero, but Her story was lost as was the reason why it matters. )
