Publisher's Summary

Rising star Zack Grantham has been stuck in a downward spiral of grief that has put his career on hold. Back on the road with the Carolina Cold Fury, still crippled by emotional baggage, and now a single dad, he's in need of some serious help with his son. But while the nerdy new nanny wins his son's heart, Zack isn't sure that he's ready for a woman's touch - even after getting a glimpse of the killer curves she's hiding under those baggy clothes.

Kate Francis usually keeps men like Zack at a distance. Though his athlete's body is honed to perfection, he refuses to move on with his life - and besides, he's her boss. Still, the sparks between them are undeniable, tempting Kate to turn their professional relationship into a personal one. But before she makes a power play for Zack's wounded heart, Kate will have to open him up again and show him that love is worth the fight.

Not as good as the first two books

The more I read, the more I Disliked Zack! I liked Kate at first, but the more I read, the more it ticked me off, because she was such a doormat for taking his crap. It ended OK but I would like to have seen him lighten up a lot sooner. I will probably just pass on Ryker's book.

Great listening!

This third audiobook in the Cold Fury hockey series was really well done. The hero, Zach, is still struggling with the loss of his long time girlfriend and mother of his son after a tragic accident. He has to hire a nanny for his son when it's time to return to practice and games. Zach's sister ends up choosing the nanny when he repeatedly puts it off and she's not what he expected. Kate, our heroine, is rather nerdy and frumpy (on purpose) and speaks her mind. At first they are wary around each other, but as time goes by their attraction gets harder to ignore. Can Zach heal enough to try to love again? Great narration!

A sweet and enjoyable story

I really loved the female character, Kate. She was really funny, adorable, and how could Zack help but fall for her. I enjoyed this story from start to finish.

Really!?!

Ugly nerdy girl with glasses takes them off , lets down her hair and all of a sudden she’s beautiful! Really!?! From his appearances in the previous books I was so interested in Zacks story. This one didn’t live up to my expectations. It could have been sooo much better!

"NOT MY FAVE...BUT STILL GOOD!"

Book #3 was a great easy read. Loved the angst, and personality of the character's. Hated Zach's indecisiveness (even though he was grieving, and he drew lines in the sand as far as how he felt about Beth, I felt like he still used Beth, and I didn't care for that.) All-in-all, it was 4 Stars.

5 stars.

loved it. it was beautifully written, beautifully read. It's rare to read....or listen to a book that can evoke emotions out of you, so much so that you can identify or at least empathize with the characters. this book did just that, bravo.

Pleasant enough romance that takes a while to heat up

This book in the series involves a hockey pro father of a boy who feels guilty about loosing his girl friend and the boys mom in a horrible accident. The love interest is a back woods young nanny trying to earn enough money for grad school. The story is slow and Zack tends to be very whiny while trying to be introspective. He clearly needed a grief counselor for longer that 1 session but was fortunate to have teammates as good friends to give advice. This story does little for the series except it does introduce the goalie for the next story. If I had it to do over I would speed thru this one.

Switch It Up

This was my fave in the series, but I wish they would use different narrators for each book.

When the hero of a book is a jerk

Not sure you could call Zack a “hero”. More like a bumbling, insensitive idiot. Not sure why Kate still loved him anyway——or why she forgave him:(((
I usually enjoy Sawyer Bennett’s novels but this one is a clunker. Stay away.

Love comes after tragedy

Sawyer Bennett does it again with a book that takes Zack's wrecked life and gives it a new purpose after Kate comes along.
Zack loses his longtime girlfriend, Gina, in a horrific car accident. With his hockey career, he needs someone to take care of his son while he's on the road and working. Kate fits that job perfectly. She has an engaging personality, but hides herself underneath baggy clothes and big glasses.
Zack gets a look at the real Kate one night and the sparks start flying. He tries to keep her out of his head, but she's the only woman in months who has reawakened his senses. Kate can't say no to the handsome, well built hockey player.
It gets complicated along the way because Zack set the boundaries to be just sex and nothing else. Of course, he sends Kate mixed signals and blurs the lines.
Zack's struggles with guilt and grief are prominently featured. He wants his son to remember his mother, but he has to move out of the house that reminded him of her everywhere he turned.
The storyline plays out well. The narration is great. Kate's southern accent is done to perfection.
