And before I can get a word out, Brooke’s introducing me as her fiancé.

So glad I finally started this series!

Bishop and Brooke meet with the intent of a one-night stand. They surprisingly see each other at the Vengeance offices, and after things get out of hand, Brooke blurts out that she and Bishop are engaged. After the initial shock and a few “hell no’s,” Brooke convinces Bishop to go along w/her fake engagement story until they can orchestrate a breakup.

With a fake engagement as their story, Bishop and Brooke don’t see why they can’t continue a physical relationship. After all, their one-night stand was the most memorable night for both of them. They’re both adults. What could go wrong? Famous last words...

Both with their own backstory and reason for staying single, their chemistry is off the charts. Their physical attraction is obvious, but both are surprised as they slowly get to know one another, that they’re really good people. This was a great love story. Seriously hot scenes and plenty of dirty talk, but you know that’s what Sawyer brings to her hot AF hockey players.

Bishop’s teammates are great, and I can’t wait to get to their stories. I listened to the audiobook, and Lance Greenfield and Kirsten Leigh do a wonderful job narrating.

Very good story - easy listen.

This was a nice and needed switch from the darker fare I’ve subjected myself to lately.

The story is good. The characters are likeable. Even with it being predictable and pretty surface level stuff, it was a worthwhile listen.

Loved it !! this story. the narrator is so fantastic it's like your really there!! After listening to this story,. I totally enjoyed reading this book. It’s well written and the characters were uniquely fantastic. I would suggest this book to my friends that like this sort of genera. this was a good book. The narration was great.

Very Good narration - Good story w/ a little twist

I'm not overly familiar with Lance Greenfield and Kirsten Leigh, but they did a great job with the narration on this story.

Bishop Scott, NHL player, recently got optioned from his team in New York to help form the new expansion team, the Arizona Vengeance. Out for fun with some of his teammates, he sees a beautiful woman at the bar and decides to see if she's up for a good time.

Brooke Perren is new to town as well. She left her job in NYC to be closer to her dad, after losing her mother in the past year. Bishop is exactly what she wants - a way to forget the seriousness of what's going on in her life, just for one night.

They make quite a connection, but Bishop leaves the next morning with no way to contact her. And when he goes to the arena for the first day of training camp with the new team, he's surprised to find Brooke in one of the offices. As he goes in to remind her of just how good they were together, and correct the error of not getting her number - her dad walks in and surprise! He's Bishop's new coach! Brooke panics and tells him that she and Bishop are engaged.... let the games begin!

It's been done, but I never get tired of reading this trope. A) you will think that Bishop is just after one thing, but he shows surprising emotional depth pretty much from chapter 2 until the end of the book. and B) Brooke is a lot more than just a pretty face who wanted a one night stand to take her mind off the grief from losing her mom and worrying about her dad.

Cute story with a few twists and turns along the way. Starts off with an absolute bang (pun intended). Finishes with a HEA.

great story, great narration!!!

I purchased this book because I follow Lance Greenfield. He narrates a majority of this book. Also I like Sawyer's writing. I've not read her Cold Fury series, so the hockey bit was new to me. It's a great story about two people who hook up once and it turns into real feelings. Throw in a fake engagement and a crazy friend and you've got this gem. I'm looking forward to more in this series. I'll read them all. No matter who narrates.
