Publisher's Summary

Max Bennett was nine years old the first time he met Emilia. The two formed a tight friendship that lasted for years until she moved away. Now, years later, Max enjoys a successful career and loves his life, carefree and fun. He has everything he wants and does not intend to settle down anytime soon (even though his family might have other ideas). But when a chance encounter brings him face-to-face with Emilia, he starts questioning everything.

Emilia Campbell has a lot on her plate, taking care of her sick grandmother. After practically being left at the altar, Emilia has sworn off men...until the childhood friend she hero-worshiped and hasn't quite forgotten steps into her clinic. Max is every bit the troublemaker she remembers, only now he has a body to drool over. They are both determined not to cross the boundaries of friendship. But as their chemistry spirals out of control, can Emilia trust her childhood hero with the key to her heart and accept she might have found her one true love? Contains mature themes.

Sweet

I love this story a lot.The narration was perfect and I didn't find myself getting bored.I enjoyed every minute and simply wish there were more.I haven't read a book before from Layla Hagen and I'm glad I did it now.

At first Emilia and Max were a little bit hesitant to start something romantic because they didn't want to ruin their friendship, but they realized that they couldn't stop feeling the attraction for each other.

Max is so sweet I loved him a lot.Emilia is determined and strong.I like them together they were perfect for each other.

I'm now more eager to listen the next book in the series!I would highly recommend the audio version of this one!

Excellent but...

This was probably my favorite story yet. However, I would’ve liked to have heard it from Max since it’s his story not hers. I really enjoyed the male narrators voice, my weakness for deep voices 🤷🏽‍♀️. Loved this story though. ❤️❤️

Incredibly Boring...

I made it one hour into the book. Nothing...NOTHING intrigued me. Tossing back. I find that I have to start through an average of 9 books until I find one worthy of my time and money...

Fun, low angst book

I liked this book and I'm really enjoying this whole series. It follows a general formula and features a lot of sweet talking, cute banter and overall, fun family dynamics. Max and Emilia are both great characters and I liked the childhood friends to lovers story. I loved the little details that Layla Hagen brought back into the story which showcases how much they have loved each other from the very beginning. Overall, a fun story and elevated with a great cast. Lidia Dornet, especially, really emoted when she narrated- it felt like she was really trying to get the emotion across. Sebastian York, as usual, was really good. I love listening to his narrations. Both played the other characters well. So generally, a great way to spend my time. On to the next book in the series!

Layla Hagen is my favorite authors

She writes so very well and describes her characters that become real within the imagination. Both narrators were the cream of the crop.

The 4th in the series is a very sweet story of childhood pals who reconnect

This story is about Max- one of the middle child twins- and Amelia- his best friend as a child. Amelia has abandonment issues and is caring for her grandmother with Alzheimer’s. That subplot is handled well. Max is amazingly sensitive and patient. The flirtations and eventual sexy scenes are hot but not over the top. For the most part Max starts out semi-self aware and always seems to care for Amelia. Sebastian York does a great job narrating his parts. Linda Dornet was mediocre. She was not great in the variety of voices and her Amelia narration has too much nasal tone- it bordered on whiney at times. The story had drama with various situations and plenty of chemistry but no major conflict between the 2 lovers or drama blown out of proportion which was a nice. There were just some normal second guesses that considered and quickly resolved because this pair had a lot of history to build a solid relationship so it was believable. Am interested in seeing if Alice and Max’s old friend will also have that same type of familiarity to build a relationship. With such a variety of narrators for the series it would have been great to have them come back to do their voice for the family scenes. This series develops the family member characters and the romance plots have so far had enough variety that I am happy to move on to the next one.

Love the Bennetts!

Bennetts...Bennetts... and more Bennetts! Words cannot describe how much I love the Bennetts! Love Layla Hagen! Love the story of Max & Emilia! They’ve been the best of friends since they were little kids but lost touch after Emilia moved out. Narrators did a great job as well.

Addictive

Another fantastic addition to this addictive series.
Max and Emilia were childhood friends that re-connect as adults and they are explosive together. I really liked how the additional storyline of Emilia's grandmother was written, Alzheimer's is shown in a sensitive, yet honest light and shows the effects it has on both the person and the family. Layla Hagen never fails to impress me with her compassionate style of writing.

Sebastian York is just delicious as Max, he performs him perfectly.

This is the first audiobook I've listened to from Lidia Dornet and I really enjoyed it, at times I did have to pay closer attention to change of male to female characters as it wasn't always obvious but that just made me focus more, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
