Publisher's Summary

You Are a Badass is the self-help audiobook for people who desperately want to improve their lives but don't want to get busted doing it.

In this refreshingly entertaining how-to guide, best-selling author and world-travelling success coach Jen Sincero serves up 27 bite-size chapters full of hilariously inspiring stories, sage advice, easy exercises, and the occasional swear word, helping you to:

  • Identify and change the self-sabotaging beliefs and behaviours that stop you from getting what you want.
  • Create a life you totally love. And create it now.
  • Make some damn money already. The kind you've never made before.

By the end of You Are a Badass, you'll understand why you are how you are, how to love what you can't change, how to change what you don't love and how to use The Force to kick some serious ass.

Super basic

Important: 1. If you've already read/listened some books about self-help, this is not for you. This is super basic, and you'll be wasting your money/credits on this.
2. If you don't like this california "gal" way of speaking ("you knoooow?", "I mean, likeeee", "So I was like ahhh, and he was likeee yuck") don't waste your money/credits on this.
The combination of these two things made it a really bad experience for me. Still, I made it through to give a complete review: may work for you if this is your first contact with self-help, maybe if it's the second, after "The monk who sold his Ferrari" and other super basic stuff. It is topical, almost childish, "Universe will give you what you want" kind of thing. If you're into that, go ahead. If not, run.

Some good advice, a lot of nonsense

This book is basically just the author telling you to believe in yourself, imagine the life you want and then going for it. I was somewhat on board until the author at one point the author advices people with depression to "change their stories" and stop being depressed...

Useless waste of time!

I couldn’t get through this book and finish it. After one hour I gave it. It had absolutely nothing to offer me. It was actually so bad it was insulting to my intelligence.

Good book for beginners

Personally I believe this is a good book for someone who is not familiar with the topics discussed. I am saying that because it felt a bit of a summary of the other authors teachings e.g Napaleon Hill, Louise L. Hay and more. In one chapter the text was almost word by word from the book “What to say when you talk to yourself” by Shad Helmstetter. I am surprised that it is not considered plagiarism.
I would say it is a good summary and then if you feel like diving deeper in any of the topics, move on to the original teachers. If you have been learning about the aspects discussed in this book, you won’t learn anything new.

The narration speed was really slow, I had to listen on x1.3 not to fall asleep.

I really enjoyed listening this book

every section finishes with a summary of different points of what to do, all of them have a different focus. Jane's voice is very good and inspiring. The book has some woo woo parts but also very objective and feasible advices.
I will hear it for sure again..specially when the down comes

Absolutely spot on!

I have listened to many, many self help audios, read many books and learned a lot. My experience of books by women are they are too soft and floaty and I struggle to relate. However, this lady is amazing. Totally to the point, feisty, funny and most of all manages to blend a go getting, no nonsense attitude with a spiritual approach to life and using the law of Attraction.

It's all about clarity, going after what you want, being truthful with yourself and acting with integrity. Making changes we know we need to make and with Bad Ass attitude. Loved it. Oh and loving yourself and your life. I am going straight into my second listening now, this time with pen ready to list out my action points.

Good Book

I was a bit put of buying this book because of its brash title. I only bought it because it was recommend to me. However, I was pleasantly suprised at how much I enjoyed it. It gives good advice how to be the person you want to be. It is well worth listening to.

Didn't finish it

This focuses all on the religious aspect and demands that i keep an open mind to god. Using a so called self help book to promote your religious beliefs isn't useful in anyway. Not everyone requires a god to feel good about themselves.

Same old stuff nothing new

Besides the clever title was a bit underwhelmed by this book. Don't think it offered anything new. Believe in yourself, the universe, stop making excuses and take action that about sums up the book. To me it was just another law of attraction book. Having said all that I liked some of the content and this book would be more suited to those just beginning a journey of self discovery. But would make a great read for first timers

Think I've heard all this before....

This is pretty much lessons from many other self help books. If you've read the secret, the chimp paradox or the happiness advantage don't bother with this. If you've not read them, buy them instead!

American Clap Trap

Sorry I didn't like this book and whether I judged it harshly I don't know but I only listened to the first 3 chapters and that was enough the narrators voice is irritating to say the least and the story is full of Americanisms it isn't believable and it didn't help me unlike other self help books I've read .
I don't know why it has such good reviews and only bought it on the strength of that.

Loved it so much, that I have just purchased 2 hard copies - one for myself and I know the universe will bring along someone who also needs to read it.

Nothing new

I'm guessing this book might be enjoyed by those in their early 20s. For me it was a bit of fun but really nothing new at all. I've heard pretty much most of the advice elsewhere. Also it seems to just be all thrown in together. No practical explanation on how to implement it... unless she does so at the very end. To be honest I didn't make it to the last couple of chapters. Lost interest. Jen does narrate well though if you are into her style of writing.

best audio I've ever heard.<br />

Yes it's true I loved this book - illuminating, passionate and most of all humorous. Very easy to listen to - a captivating voice and message. Not ashamed to admit she made me cry - she really made me believe how awesome I am - probably for the 1st time in my life. Listen to it - it will be one of the most moving and enjoyable things you may ever do. Can't thank this 'bitch' enough.

Self help for beginners

Great book, ideal for anyone who might be sceptical of the personal development genre. Bite sized pieces of information are presented in a way that isn't 'preach-y'
