"Pitch-perfect...gives me all the feels, and I love every one of them!"—Ali Hazelwood, New York Times bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis

“Ashley makes favorite rom-com tropes feel new again with a pitch-perfect friends-to-lovers story.” —Publishers Weekly starred review

Would you rather play it safe in the friend zone, or risk it all with a modern marriage of convenience?

Noah and Mia have always been best friends, and their friendship is the most important thing to them. Life is going great for Noah and he’s up for a promotion in a job he loves. But Mia’s life is on hold as she awaits a kidney transplant. She’s stuck in a dead-end job and, never wanting to be a burden, has sworn off all romance. So when the chance of a lifetime comes to go back to school and pursue her dream, it’s especially painful to pass up. She can’t quit her job or she’ll lose the medical insurance she so desperately needs.

To support her, Noah suggests they get married—in name only—so she can study full-time and still keep the insurance. It’s a risk to both of them, with jobs, health and hearts on the line, and they’ll need to convince suspicious coworkers and nosy roommates that they’re the real deal. But if they can let go of all the baggage holding them back, they might realize that they would rather be together forever.

This books managed to straddle the line of romance while still feeling like it was rooted in reality and "love" as an action of self sacrifice and not just a feeling. Though it felt like it took the female lead a little too long to have her epiphany, she still eventually got there. The characters in this story arc of childhood friends to husband and wife are supremely likable. I can't wait to read and see more from this author.

The narrator was fine but I found the main conflict very frustrating and it was lacking a bit in smut.

Did a good job with the emotions around having a family member or someone you care about dying or struggling with a disease. Not a sad book but touched on life struggles.

Fun, flirty, and a good listen

This was a GREAT love story! It was hard not to finish it all at once. It was refreshingly open, honest and a joy to read.

The story was captivating from beginning to end!

Loved it! Wish I could give 100 stars!
This book was well-written, and Mia and Noah were well-developed, interesting characters. I love Mia baking and trying to make gluten free, or special diet treats. I think I'd like her if we ever met. I loved Noah, too. He was a true hero with flaws and baggage, but true love for Mia. I loved the little things they did together like getting chicken wings. That reminded me of me and my husband. We were married 21 years, and went out for five years. He passed away in 2001 at only 47. It's the little things I miss most of all.
David was great as the slimy villain, and I loved Mia and Noah's friends.I
