In this World Mental Health Day Audible Sessions Special, producer and presenter Holly Newson meets 10 individuals who talk frankly about their mental health.

In these conversations, guests share stories about their anxiety, depression, paranoid schizophrenia, eating disorders and other mental health problems. The theme for World Mental Health Day in 2019 is suicide prevention, and some of the contributors talk of their own experiences with suicidal thoughts. The guests also share examples of the things they do to help them manage their mental health and consider how we might progress conversations about mental health as we strive to counter the stigma that often surrounds the topic.

Featuring Jonny Benjamin, Juliette Burton, Alastair Campbell, Scarlett Curtis, Juno Dawson, Dame Kelly Holmes, James McVey, and Mind members Zach, James and Leanne.

This episode was created in partnership with Mind, the mental health charity. If anything in this programme has affected you or you would like to speak to someone about your mental health, please call the Mind Infoline on 0300 123 3393 or visit the Mind website, mind.org.uk.

I love books like these that help others to know they are not alone in a situation. but also cause they help others to see it not just young or older but all ages and sets that can have mental issues.

your not alone... great insight.

I liked the fact that it presented others who are struggling with Mental illness but, the back and forth between the experiences of the characters(people) I feel didn't allow fluidity in the each of their stories. I would have preferred to hear each of their life experiences with mental illness separate and not all intertwined. Just my opinion...

It was just ok...

Thank you for informing me that I'm not alone in this depression maze. Both books were very eye opening. I've learnt more about my mental illness just by hearing others stories. Thank you for lifting a huge load from my mind, body, spirit, and my soul.

AMAZING

Mental health problems are often minimized, ignored and swept under the rug. I'm glad that Audible lent a platform for the conversation and exchange of ideas on how mental health affects people. It really affects us all on one level or another. We either know someone who's struggling or has struggled with mental health issues, and/or we might have struggled with it either during a stressful time in our lives or as a lifelong struggle. One one of the speakers said it best, "we all have mental health", just like we have a physiological health and we need to take care of it and address it as an issue that merits attention.
