Publisher's summary

I looked at the monster and the child I had created and I saw what I had feared the most.

Isabelle Berger has given birth to a litter of beasts with the power to kill over a hundred people. She knows she should be just as excited as her husband, but a dark secret lurks in her mind that could shatter their happy ending.

Will Isabelle find her true home among the beasts?

If you like inspirational heroines, unique love stories, and some darker thrills and chills this paranormal/shifter romance is for you!

Wolves at Bay is a short story set after the Cry Wolf series - a darker twist on Beauty and the Beast inspired from the legend of the Beast of Gevaudan and the French Revolution.

What are HighTower Fairytales?

HighTower Fairytales lean more toward the original sources (not Disney) with rich semi-historical settings. They have magic. They have scary monsters. And, most importantly, they have unique and complex characters who are trying hard to improve themselves.

They also include plenty of humor and all the heroes marry their prince/princess charming and live happily ever after at the end!

Basically, these stories meant to inspire, but have a very difficult and occasionally dark tower to climb. They are conservatively marked at 14+ and are appropriate for teens and young adults.

Currently these stories include:

  • Winter Falls: A Tale of the Snow Queen (2017)
  • Cry Wolf: A Tale of Beauty and the Beast (2020)
  • Depths: A Tale of the Little Mermaid (2020)
  • Letters by Cinderlight: A Tale of Cinderella (2021)
  • Robin's Hood: A Tale of Sherwood Forest (2021)

And more on the way!

Really Short but Beautifully Wrapped Up Ending

Parents: PG13- this is acceptable for 15+
Language: PG
Violence: PG13 - normal to genre, nothing overly graphic
Sexual content: PG13 - 15+ read- merely due to some violence and animal references to "mating", kissing, and some flashbacks and situations that could be triggering for sexual assault or abuse victims. It was still kept a clean tale, the talk of mating, is used more as an animal term of coupling/marriage and starting a family/having pups.

I loved how this one dealt with overcoming personal monsters, new marriage/relationships and expanding families. Really helped resolve some issues and leave things in a happier place for the reader. I have seen that you can purchase the whole series (all 4 books) now so I would recommend purchasing them that way.

The narration is great, and I liked having the two narrators to help manage the perspectives of the two main characters.

HAPPILY EVER AFTER BEAUTY AMD THE BEAST.

ISABELLE IS EXPECTING. AND HOWL DOESN'T REALLY KNOW WHAT TO DO TO HELP HER. THE CASTLE IS BEING REBUILT AND HOWL HAS BEEN ACKNOWLEDGE AS THE COUNT IN THE VILLAGE. BELLE FIGHTS WITH THE VISION OF SEEING HER ATTACKER JOHN WHOM.WAS KILLED IN BOOK 3. THOUGH THEIR LOVE IS STEONG, I THINK THIS STORY WAS NECESSARY TO ADD TO THE SERIES BECAUSE IT SHOWS WHAT HAPPENS AFTER ISABELL AND HOWL ARE H..E.A..
THE NARRATORS BROUGHT THE STORY TO LIFE BEAUTIFULLY!

I AM. LOOKING FORWARD TO THE ROBIN HOOD SERIES NEXT. HMM.......

the perfectest of endings!

3 ended with Howl and Belle together, but without the litter of pups Howl always wanted, how could the story actually be complete?? This handled that beautifully, showing that babies aren't easy but ARE worth it. It also addressed the lingering trauma Belle had, and it did beautifully. This was a wonderful end to a wonderful series.
