Publisher's summary

How much would you give up to get justice for your family?

Matthew Daley is a Manhattan corporate lawyer at the top of his game. As the first defense attorney on call to get pharmaceutical companies out of trouble, Matt is rising in the judicial system exactly as he planned. Until his sister dies of a heroin overdose.

Now, torn between conscience and career, the newly minted law partner faces a critical choice: defend the very companies that manufactured the addictive drugs, or give up his fiancée and his hard-won dream job to fight for justice in his sister’s name.

Returning to his blue-collar hometown with a ragtag band of law-school misfits by his side, Matt squares off against a team of New York corporate attorneys in a high-stakes courtroom battle. If he wins, the case could have national implications, bringing down the multibillion-dollar Big Pharma industry. If he loses, he’ll become collateral damage in the greatest fall of his career and his life.

Solid legal thriller FREE with Kindle Unlimited!

J D Trafford is such a good author. His books deserve so much more attention from readers. This book like Trafford's others is an exceptional stand alone read.
The publisher's summary is excellent and gives a great overview. I wouldn't expand on it because to say more would spoil this for someone else.
The courtroom scenes with the underdog attorney (Matthew Daley) who is the protagonist are the dream of every plaintiff. The ending is hilariously spectacular!!!!
The narration by Timothy Andrés Pabon is outstanding.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Maybe I am too cynical

Maybe I have become too cynical, but this story was...simply too pathetic. The First part seemed like a fairy tale. The court room drama was much better. But still, I think this is too far a stretch from the real life...

New Favorite Author!

Downloaded 'Without Precedent' yesterday afternoon (less than 24 hours ago). I enjoy books than pull you in so deeply you feel as if you know the characters personally and are watching their senerio play out. Until yesterday, I had never heard of J.D. Trafford and felt I was taking gamble. It was well worth the gamble. The narrator Timothy Andres Pabon was excellent addition as well. If you haven't read any of J.D. Trafford's books before, I highly recommend you give him a try!

An Okay Story

This story was just okay for me. A pretty good story is a low bar to spend this much time listening and not feel a degree of satisfaction at the end. As one reviewer stated, it's a "stretch from reality", especially the ending. Although the story is well written and performed, I prefer high drama in the court room and more mystery in the storyline.

Bit of a snoozer

The story had potential but very slow. I kept waiting for it to take off but doesn’t appear to ever happen.

Decent Legal Thriller Fayre

This is a decent US legal thriller as a big shot lawyer switches sides and decides to take on everyone's favourite villains these days in big pharma. A dodgy drug, a family tragedy and a bit of soul searching.

I love a good courtroom drama and this gave me that nicely and I found it an enjoyable listen on today's road trip.

I can't say it really set the pulse racing or that it managed any significant originality though so it won't live long in the memory but it did its job of keeping me entertained for a few hours.
