Publisher's Summary

I’ll hunt down a hidden enemy and protect a love from my past.

Will I claim my second chance at love?

Andreas betrayed me once, and I walked away. Now he’s returned, asking me for protection from a stalker. I have to throttle anger, restrain lust - just focus on the job. But he’s not just a job. He’s the man I refuse to let get away a second time.

If I have to guard him with my body, then in return I want his soul. We were friends then enemies, but now I must try and forgive past sins.

Can we hate each other and still be lovers? I know one thing. If I can’t focus on keeping him alive, it’s game over.

Short and sweet

Whilst I was concerned this book was going to be rushed as it is only a short story. The authors have managed to capture everything that was needed and didn’t miss a beat.
The narrator was great at nailing different voices and his voice is easy on the ears. Overall I did really enjoy this story. Job well done to both authors and narrator for bringing this story together.

THE PAST CAN BE FORGIVEN AND PEOPLE DO CHANGE

Jake, a security service co-owner, gets Andreas, an ex-friend because they parted on ill terms, as a client for bodyguarding Andreas’s daughter. The story shows how people have a hard time believing the truth about their friends and realizing their loyalties are misplaced. I was enthralled by the story and how it developed and how an idiom came true.

I loved the passion in the narrator’s voice and his conviction in his reading; although the voice of Gael reminds me a vampire instead of a Hispanic male. It was like listening to the people tell their story instead of it being read to me.

I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.

Short and Sweet

This enemies to lovers novella did not leave you feeling like something was missing. It gave me the steam, action low angst and character development. The narrator was new to me and did a good job.

second chance mm romance

Sweet, second chance romance.
I found myself engaged with the characters and the story had good pacing and an entertaining plot.
This was my first listen for Robin Woodson, he did a good job of bringing the characters to life, there were some places I would have liked more intonation's and emotion, but this is a minor critique. Overall though, I enjoyed "With My Body" and would happily listen to it again.

Short, sweet, second chance mm romance

Story: With My Body by JP Oliver and Peter Styles is book 1 of the Guarding My Heart series, and is a short and sweet mm romance about second chances, forgiveness and solving some mysteries! We meet Jake, who has had feelings for Andreas when they were younger but one moment changed their lives and friendship for the worst. Decades later, Andreas re-enters Jake’s life, begging for help, for his daughter is starting to get threats after Andreas testified against a former friend that has a history for harassing women; and that bit of information hits to close to home for Jake. Reluctant to help because he’s unable to forget what happened when they were teens, Jake can’t help himself, still harboring feelings for Andreas, he finally agrees to help Andreas.

Performance: this was my first time listening to Robin Woodson and although I would have loved it more if he differentiate between the MCs, he still did a good job narrating. I’ll keep my ears open for his future projects.

Overall: I love second chance romances. With the little mystery thrown in, forgiveness between two men who are learning to free themselves from their own demons and some sweet love, I enjoyed With My Body; four stars. Happy listening all!

The Past And Present

This is the first book in The Guarding My Heart Series. An interesting book the writing was okay. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters likeable. Andreas and Jake are the MC’s of this book. I wanted to like this book more, but it did need some help. More detail and smoother transitions. The narrator wasn’t bad although he wasn’t monotone his voices for each character could’ve been more distinct. And even though there were highs and lows I would’ve liked more and for there to be a larger separation between them. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

Great Second Chance Romance

I really enjoyed this second chance romance of two men who used to be friends until one felt betrayed by the other. Jake and Andreas meet up again when Andreas needs Jake's help protecting his child. I really liked watching them develop their relationship all over again both as friends and lovers. The narrator did a great job with the characters and with the story. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Enjoyable quick listen

Jake and Andreas were friends when they were younger but when an event happened that caused Jake to feel betrayed by Andreas they went their separate ways. Roll on a few years and Andreas and his daughter are being threatened and turn to the agency that Jake works for to hire a bodyguard. Andreas and Jake are great together, I loved the way they found forgiveness for each other and how rekindling their friendship turned to love.

The book was fast paced, held my interest throughout and the narration by Robin Woodson was spot on.

I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review

Jake and Andreas are awesome together!

Really good narration! i enjoyed the character that this narrator brought to the story. Each character had their own voice and

A heartfelt second chance romance with a dose of forgiveness and a heaping of love. This was a poignant story of misplaced loyalty and learning to do the right thing. I really liked both MC's and thought their chemistry was great.

Jake and Andreas are so connected that you could feel their intensity. i liked that they took their time to become friends and find forgiveness.

i enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Enjoyable 4.5 stars

If I don't own the book I'm listening to, I will usually borrow it on KU, particularly if it is a long narrative. This is a relatively short audiobook, so I took a chance on listening alone (I have a hearing impairment). It was fine even though the narrator, Robin Woodson, is new to me. I found him to be clear spoken and he reads at just the right pace.

It took a couple of chapters to get into the story. Jake and Andreas are both likeable main characters and, once they cleared up and owned past mistakes (Andreas), they quickly fell into a relationship. This is the first time with a man for Andreas, one of my favourite tropes. The scenes between them are hot and well written.

I will definitely carry on with this series.

Enjoyable

New to me narrator who I found enjoyable. Jake and Andreas were school friends until Jake's sister is assaulted BY Andreas friends and he sticks up for them. Many years later Andreas and his daughter are being threatened when he testified against a friend, he hires Jake to be his daughter's bodyguard and they fall in love.
