First let me say, great story line. Adding the Dreft to the team was magical in itself. But adding the Cats, totally fucking awesome. As an animal lover, it touched my heart. MA did it again. But, I have one complaint. This is the only series without the author's notes. I miss that.

It's formulaic but that is used well
There are numerous characters that resemble characters in the Opus X series. I enjoyed that and have listened to the entire series at least 3 times. I believe Michael Anderle uses these character types to make points about where humans have gone wrong and where they could become better. That premise is what excuses him from using similar characters in his most entertaining tales. I wish I had enough credits all at once to get the entire Federation Histories all at once. I'm on the second novel and want more. Michael Anderle makes one want to cheer the heroes on and despise the groups engaged in a CONSPIRACY against them. That last sentence is my only allusion to a comparison between this series and OPUS X. No more spoilers from me.

Knocked it out of the park again!
This was an amazing book that I didn't think would ever end (and I didn't want it to!) So many places and constantly having my attention, I tried my hardest to listen to it in one sitting. And when that failed I got to it every second I had free. Thanks for the amazing book!!!
